As the end of another fiscal year approaches, I look back on the last 12 months and am so proud of what has been accomplished.  We are so grateful for the supportive community that keeps our programs running - ensuring that all Silicon Valley teens can come to ACS for professional and accessible care.

Our fiscal year closes on June 30, 2014 and we are very close to ending the year strong, but need your help to get us there!  A gift of any size is appreciated.  You can read below about the impact that your contribution makes on the lives of the teens we serve.

Your contributions enable us to keep services open to the community during the summer.  Clients in our On-Campus Counseling Program who need to be seen over the summer have been referred to our After-School Counseling Program where they can continue to receive services at no-cost.  All of our other programs remain open.  Read on below to learn more.

Best wishes for a safe, healthy, and happy summer!

In Service,

Dr. Philippe Rey

Executive Director

fiscalHelp Us Close the Gap

We need your help to finish our annual campaign strong and close the fiscal gap for 2013-2014.  A gift of any size is greatly appreciated and makes an impact on local teens and families.  Look what our donors have helped accomplish so far:

Think about the impact you can have on this community by joining ACS in helping teenagers find their way.

Make your gift by June 30, 2014!

summerACS Summer Hours: OPEN!

The schools we serve may be out, but these ACS programs: After-School Counseling Programs, Adolescent Substance Abuse Program, and the Outlet Program; are available to teens all summer.

Students who want to continue therapy, can use the After-School Counseling Program at ACS' offices. The Outlet Program support groups will continue to meet, for dates and times go to www.projectoutlet.org. The Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program offers assessments and ASAT I and ASAT II treatment will be available.

If you have any questions about these programs you can contact [email protected] or go to www.acs-teens.org

Teen Talk Blog: "Valentine Road" Documentary Raises Important Questions

As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month this June, it seems appropriate to bring these issues and this documentary, in particular, to your attention.

You may have heard of this documentary, "Valentine Road", the story of Larry King's murder. He was a queer youth, 8th grader, who was shot by his classmate, Brandon McInerney in February 2008. None of us can say we know nearly enough about what happened that day, or the period of time leading up to it, or anything about either student and their backgrounds to make any skillful discernment regarding this tragedy. The only "fact" is it was a tragedy.

Thank You for Supporting ACS!

May was a busy month and we want to thank everyone who supported ACS through the following events or initiatives:
  • Out to Meet on 5/2/14 was a success!  Thanks to those who attended, we raised nearly $54,000 in support of our Outlet Program.
  • Thank you to everyone who participated in Silicon Valley Gives on 5/6/14, the valley's first 24-hour day of giving and especially to those who chose to contribute to ACS.  With your help, we raised over $32,000 in donations and matches!
  • Give OUT Day on 5/15/14 was a day of giving for all LGBT organizations across the country. $540 was received in support of the Outlet Program.
  • A lavish mansion, wonderful auction items, and compelling speakers made our Spring Sounds gala a smashing success, bringing in over $140,000 to support ACS' four community programs! Check out our  Facebook page to see posed and candid shots from the evening.
If you weren't able to participate in any of these events but would like to make a gift to support Adolescent Counseling Services, you can make a gift online or send a check to:
ACS at 1717 Embarcadero Rd., Ste. 4000, Palo Alto, CA 94303.
