VQI passes 100,000 procedures mark
The Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI), the Society's outcomes assessment and quality improvement program, now includes more than 100,000 procedures. Since launching in 2011, the program has grown to include more than 245 centers and 1,500 physicians across the United States and Canada. Fourteen regional quality groups are now in place to analyze outcomes and benchmark results with peers on the following procedures: carotid endarterectomy, carotid artery stenting, endovascular and open AAA report, peripheral vascular interventions, infra- and supra-inguinal bypass, thoracic and complex EVAR, hemodialysis access, lower extremity amputations and IVC filter procedures. Incentive Bonus for Maintenance of Certification Participation 
The American Board of Surgery (ABS) has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the 2013 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) MOC Incentive. This incentive allows physicians participating in PQRS reporting to earn an additional 0.5% on Medicare Part B charges. Complete information is available on the ABS website. SVS is also committed to continuous professional development and offers MOC through the Vascular Education and Self-Assessment Program 2 (VESAP2) and the Journal of Vascular Surgery-CME Program. Participants in the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) may also receive incentive payments under PQRS.
