Dec. 31: Membership Dues for 2013
As the end of the year draws near, please remember to submit payment of your SVS membership dues by the Dec. 31 deadline. If your membership entitles you to a complimentary subscription to JVS, receipt of dues payment is required to activate this subscription.

Candidates in vascular training programs are not required to pay dues. If you feel you have received an invoice in error, please contact the SVS membership department.

Those retired from practice qualify for Senior membership and are not required to pay dues. To update your membership category, please send written notification of your retirement to membership@vascularsociety.org. Senior member JVS subscriptions are offered at a discounted rate of $65.


Jan. 3: Vascular Annual Meeting Abstract Submission Deadline
Act soon. The deadline to submit an abstract for the 2013 Vascular Annual MeetingŪ is Jan 3.  Plan to share research and attend the premier meeting for vascular health professionals, to be held May 30-June 1, 2013 in San Francisco, and submit an abstract today. Registration and housing for the meeting will open on March 5.


Jan 3: SVSŪ Foundation Award Deadlines
The deadlines are rapidly approaching for several SVS awards. Learn more about these exciting opportunities and apply for the following:
 
 Resident Research Prize (deadline Jan. 3, 2013)

 EJ Wylie Traveling Fellowship (deadline Feb. 15, 2013)
 Student Research Fellowship (deadline March 17, 2013) 

Support your specialty with a contribution to the SVSŪ Foundation. Donations made by Dec. 31 may be used as a deduction on your 2012 tax return and will help vascular surgery research. 
 

Jan. 25: VRIC Registration Abstract Deadline
Vascular surgeons interested in learning how to build a stem cell program should register for the upcoming 27th Annual Vascular Research Initiatives Conference (VRIC), Emerging Concepts of Vascular Physiology and Therapy, sponsored by the Society for Vascular Surgery. Designed to encourage interaction and collaboration between vascular surgeon investigators and scientists from other vascular biology-related disciplines, this year VRIC is offering a special session, How to Put Together a Stem Cell Program for Therapeutic Angiogenesis: Challenges and Pitfalls. VRIC will be held April 30, 2013 in Orlando, Florida. Remember to submit an abstract for the Vascular Research Initiatives Conference by the Jan. 25 deadline. Jan. 31: VAM CME Deadline
The deadline to claim CME for the 2012 Vascular Annual MeetingŪ has been extended. The deadline to earn self-assessment credit toward Part 2 of the ABS Maintenance of Certification Program is Jan. 31 and the CME credit deadline is March 1. After those dates, CME and self-assessment credits for the 2012 Vascular Annual Meeting, along with the corresponding certificates, will no longer be available.


Feb. 1: Health Policy Scholarship
SVS members interested in health care policy should apply for the SVS/ACS scholarship to attend the Executive Leadership Program at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts from June 9-15. The closing date for applications is Feb. 1. For questions, call the ACS Scholarships Administrator at 312-202-5281 or visit the Brandeis website for more information.
