Opportunity Fair Recap | |
Over 300 people attended the largest Minority Trade Fair in Western PA on May 1 at the Monroeville Convention Center. We would like to thank our platinum sponsor Highmark, and all of the other sponsors, speakers, committee members, volunteers and attendees for making this event a success.
The Opportunity Fair featured emcee Edmund Nelson, who kept the program moving and the crowd laughing. County Executive, Rich Fitzgerald attended the Kick-Off Breakfast and welcomed the guests. The Breakfast keynote speaker, State Representative Jake Wheatley, gave an inspiring speech, highlighting the importance of minority inclusion.
We were excited to have Marquis Miller, VP of Field Operations, NMSDC, attend our fair and serve as the keynote speaker at the Luncheon to talk about the growth of the NMSDC and how team work makes the dream work.
Two educational seminars were held during the fair about 'How to do Business with Corporations' and 'Available Resources'. Attendees stopped at the Opportunity Board to view over 100 current and upcoming opportunities for business.
Attendees who visited every booth were entered in a drawing for a $500 Apple Gift Card donated by BNY Mellon. Congratulations to Maria Atkinson who won the prize and met with all of the exhibitors.

In lieu of issuing DGS certifications, the bureau will instead verify certifications from third party entities including WPMSDC. WPMSDC welcomes all minority owned businesses to continue their certification with WPMSDC and will offer a $100 discount if you have a DGS certification. If you were DGS certified and interested in WPMSDC certification, please contact Jan Fleishner at jan@wpmsdc.org or 412-391-4423. |
