Greetings!
Are you ready for some hops!?
Each year, home-brewers everywhere continue a tradition of growth and agriculture with the purchase and planting of Hop Rhizomes.
Unlike most plants, Hops do not begin their life cycle in seed form - instead they are one of the few that can grow simply from a cutting of a well developed root system. This cutting is known as a Rhizome and while unimpressive in appearance, they hold the key to easily growing your very own hops at home.
Our hop rhizomes have been professionally selected to provide you with high quality hops - don't be fooled by somewhere else's backyard special, these rhizomes are the real deal!
Hop Rhizomes are due to arrive in the beginning of April. We recommend purchase in pairs of at least 2. All hop rhizome orders will ship for a flat rate of $6.00 via USPS priority mail.
Check out what we've got for you this week when we focus our thoughts on warm spring weather and the beautiful Humulus lupulus.
BONUS: Newsletter Subscribers Only - Order by 03/17/16 for a free piece of twine with every root! Add the fiber twine to your shopping cart and enter Coupon Code "COIR" at check out, or mention this ad in "Customer Comments" at checkout!

Brewer's Gold - Sibling of and similar to Bullion only maturing earlier and more disease resistant. English/wild Canadian cross. Pungent English character. Cascade - Flowery, citrus & spice with some grapefruit (the noticeable fragrance quite often). This medium aroma balances the low bittering value. Centennial - Flowers & citrus most evident. A medium aroma with mid to high bittering value makes it a dual purpose choice. Chinook - Mild to medium-heavy, spicy, distinct piney aroma like a pine forest washed with exotic spice and infused with grapefruit. Columbus - Earthy, spicy, pungent, with some citrus overtones. Not overwhelmingly citrus.
Crystal - A triploid variety from Hallertauer breeding program with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold and Early Green. It is very similar to U.S. Hallertauer, and Mt. Hood. It is said to be the "hoppiest" of the Hallertauer triploids.
Fuggle - Classic English aroma hop with moderate bittering value. Mild and pleasant, spicy, soft, woody, with some fruit tones. Golding - Refined Gentle, Fragrant and pleasant with flowery tones, that has produced some of England's best bitters.
Liberty - Yet another of the Hallertauer triploids, released in 1991. It ranks very close in comparison to Hallertauer Mittlefruh. With very low cohumulone levels, and little farnesene in the essential oil. Liberty is quite similar to Hallertauer but much easier to grow.
Magnum - A late-maturing Hallertauer hybrid developed at the Hop Research Institute in Hüll (Germany) with excellent yield potential, high alpha content, good storage stability and resistance to wilt and Downy Mildew, low tolerance to Powdery Mildew.
Mt Hood - Hybrid of Hallertau with similar mild flower/spice aroma characteristics with a hint more of the forest. Newport - New alpha acid variety with high bittering value released in 2002 that is high-yielding and multi-disease resistant with moderate storage stability. Its large yields and strong resistance to current races of Powdery Mildew in the Pacific Northwest makes it grower-friendly. Northern Brewer - A true dual-purpose hop. Neutral, clean aroma, woody with evergreen and mint overtones. Nugget - Strong heavy and herbal, spicy aroma and high bittering value (along with desirable growing traits) has brought this hop variety to the forefront of the industry.
Sorachi Ace - Cross between Brewer's Gold, Saaz - OP and Beikei No. 2 male. Developed in 1984 for Supporo Brewers Ltd. with a unique lemon and dill characteristic. An extremely unique high alpha aroma variety with great bittering characteristics.
Sterling - Herbs and spices dominate, flowers and citrus around the fringes. Tettnang - An aroma variety grown mainly in the Tettnang region of southern Germany with good to moderate vigor, low to medium yield, good resistance to Verticillium Wilt and average resistance to Peronospora. Comparable to the English Fuggle. Willamette - The king of aroma hops in the U.S. with its modest bittering value and the joyous harmony of flowers, fruit, earth and spice. Zeus (Columbus) - Earthy, spicy, pungent, with some citrus overtones. An interesting dichotomy of sharp and herbal.
