Our Vision...

to become a community of bold followers of Jesus, a crowd that effects good change for the world, a place known for radical love and welcome, and a beacon of hope in Center City Charlotte

 From the Senior Warden

During my time as a member of St. Peter's-as a member of the Vestry, as a member of the Pastoral Care Ministry Team, and now as Senior Warden-I have seen over and over again the way the people of St. Peter's express the love of Christ to one another, especially in times of significant change in our lives.

Every third Sunday, we offer our Taiz Holy Eucharist, with the next one on September 18. View the fall Sunday Evening's at St. Peter's Schedule online.

"Life at St. Peter's" Fall 2016 Edition Release. Our seasonal publication of parish worship, programs, and events for September 2016 - January 2017 is now available online at www.st-peters.org/life. Paper copies are also available for pickup in the parish house lobby.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: Atrium Open House and Registration, September 11. On Sunday, September 11, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) resumes for the 2016-2017 formation program year. Serving children ages 2-12, CGS is grounded in Montessori pedagogy with sources in scripture and liturgy. In CGS, we center on the person of Jesus when speaking with children about God's love. In the parable of the Good Shepherd (John 10), we hear of a shepherd who calls and of sheep who respond - first by listening and then by following. This action and response introduces the child to the foundation of the covenantal relationship. This same covenant is a central theme in the Bible; God's search for us and our response to God's initiative. Parents will receive additional information about an Open House and other opportunities for families. Contact Director of Children's Formation Anna Hurdle ([email protected], 704-749-6156), to inquire about working with our children or to register a child

The Mystical Food for Thought group studies the works of both classical and contemporary Christian spiritual writers, seeking to open ourselves to the deeper world of the Spirit. Last year we met at noon on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month in the Tower Room. Our first meeting this fall will be September 14. If you are intrigued by the notion of experientially opening to the presence of God in profound ways, come explore with us! The Reverend Dr. Paul Hanneman convenes the group; for our first meeting, we'll be reading an interview with contemporary mystical theologian Sr. Ilia Delio. contact Dr. Hanneman ([email protected], 704-222-6015) and he'll provide you with a copy.

Free Holy Chow Kickoff on Sunday, September 11. Start the Fall 2016 program year off right with a hearty breakfast and good friends. If you've not yet had a chance to enjoy this seasonal weekly offering, this is your opportunity join in on the fun for free. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 until 9:25 a.m. in the Community Room on the second floor of the Parish House. Because it is free and adequate provisions will need to be purchased, reservations are required by Friday, September 9. So that we can have a good headcount, RSVP online or call Paige Ghareeb at 704-947-8982 if you do not use the Internet.

Young Adults First Sunday Brunch on September 4. Join the parish Young Adults fellowship on Sunday, September 4 for their First Sunday Brunch. Lector Training Session on September 11: All current and prospective lectors are invited to a training session on Sunday, September 11 at 12:30 p.m. in the church. We will review changes to the customary and engage in a practice session designed to help us support each other in our ministry.
