Sharing the Gift of Music

At St. Peter's, we are the inheritors of the rich musical tradition of the Anglican tradition and we do our best to make the most of it. Our choirs and music staff put a lot of effort into making our musical offerings of praise to God the best they can be. And beyond our worship services, we strive to share with others God's love for us as manifested in great music, through the Choir School, various concerts and recitals, and through the ministry of Center City Concerts at St. Peter's.

New This Week

Sunday Morning Formation Hour on Summer Schedule. Beginning May 29, our weekly offering of Christian formation classes from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. for youth and children, as well as the Parish Hall Forum, is suspended until September. Adults can look forward to a three-week series at the 9:30 a.m. hour on June 5, 12 & 19 called "Listening for God" with the Reverend Dr. Paul Hanneman.

Listening for God with the Reverend Dr. Paul Hanneman - This adult formation series takes place on June 5, 12, and 19, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Henri Nouwen, one of the most insightful spiritual writers of the last century, described prayer as "being all ear for God." And James Finley, one of Dr. Hanneman's teachers, suggests that we begin each prayer session by breathing in while listening to God tell us how much God loves us - and breathing out with our response, "and I love you." Dr. Hanneman invites us to explore this love affair God has with us...to feel into what it means to be loved by God, into what it means to love God in response, and some of the ways we can begin to let this love shape our daily living.

Praising God through Worship at St. Peter's. Among many things, the Ten Commandments invite us to remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy. Life at St. Peter's takes this commandment seriously by providing weekly worship opportunities for all ages in the morning and evening: Sunday, Holy Eucharist, 8:00 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Holy Eucharist, Noon; Monday - Friday, Morning Prayer, 8:00 a.m. On Sundays, the Infant and Toddler Center hours are 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Let us spread the word, invite others to worship with us, and be mindful of God's call for our holy habits.

Legacy Sunday Celebration on June 5. The stewardship ministry of Planned Giving will be celebrated on Sunday, June 5 at St. Peter's. "Planned Giving" is a term that describes the thoughtful designation of a gift that will be made some time in the future, usually at the end of the donor's life. At St. Peter's, planned gifts help ensure that our values as a faith community will be preserved for the future. A "minute for ministry" will be offered at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services, and information about St. Peter's 1834 Legacy Society will be available in the public spaces. See www.st-peters.org/plannedgiving for more information and to express interest in having a committee member contact you.

Center City Concerts celebrates Third Season with a Festive Garden Party on June 1.
