Music: Inspiring All that We Do

After the Bishop's visitation, September's Center City Organ and Brass concert, and the combination of Evensong with Eucharist on Sunday Evenings at St. Peter's, one can hardly imagine things getting bigger.

Hold on! Things do.

First, there's food for the soul during another free lunchtime concert at Noon, on Monday, October 19, as part of the third season of the Center City Concerts at St. Peter's series. This month, the Bechtler Ensemble Piano Trio will perform will perform music by Dvorak, Enescu, and Prokofiev that is warm, lively and evocative. Tanya Bechtler, Cynthia Lawing, and Joseph Meyer are longtime Charlotte personalities whose musical excellence is a real treasure. Come early and enjoy this free, hour-long concert.

At the end of October, we also offer Noye's Fludde (Noah's Flood). This hour-long children's opera is being produced by The Choir School at St. Peter's and Opera Carolina, accompanied by members of the Charlotte Symphony, Charlotte Youth Symphony, and the Early Music Ensemble of Central Piedmont Community College. Even with 120 performers involved, the congregation gets to sing hymns as part of the drama.

All Saint's Day, Sunday, November 1, will be a continuation of the glorious musical offerings at St. Peter's.  We are fortunate to have Tristan Clarke, trumpeter with the Charlotte Symphony, to help lead our service. We will celebrate those who have come and gone before and will welcome new members through baptism. The hymns, anthems, and liturgy of All Saints' Day bring together our past, present, and future in ways that inspire all that we do.
