"Sustainable Innovation Based on Science and Applied Research of Nonthermal Technologies"
The 2015 International Nonthermal Processing Workshop, sponsored by EFFoST and the IFT Nonthermal Processing Division, will follow the 29th EFFoST International Conference (10-12 November) from 12-13 November 2015 in Athens, Greece.

The International Nonthermal Processing Workshop provides a global meeting point and forum for experts in the field of nonthermal processing of food, from academia and research, food professionals, equipment manufacturers and students. The objective of the workshop is to exchange state-of-the-art knowledge about developments in nonthermal processing technology research and applications to enhance progress in the field.

This year's Workshop theme, "Sustainable Innovation Based on Science and Applied Research of Nonthermal Technologies," provides the framework to discuss a number of timely topics, including:
  • Status and state-of-the-art research of nonthermal technologies:
    • High pressure
    • Pulsed electric fields
    • UV, IR and pulsed light
    • Ultrasound
    • Cold plasma
    • Ozonation
    • Dense phase carbon dioxide
  • Current knowledge on phenomena and mechanisms of the effects of nonthermal processes on biological, chemical and structural components of food
  • Converting research results into practical solutions: emerging applications and commercial development
  • Paradigms of nonthermal technology applications in markets: successes and drawbacks
  • Food safety and sustainability by application of nonthermal technologies
  • Use of nonthermal technologies for superior quality and novel food products of extended shelf-life
  • Impact of nonthermal technologies on energy, water and waste reduction
  • Nonthermally treated food products for health and wellbeing
