ATTENTION: Due to a significant increase in flu cases, RCMH is restricting visitors to the facility, effective immediately. This is a precautionary measure which will protect patients, families, and hospital staff from additional exposure to the flu virus.
If you or someone you know is planning to visit a patient here, please understand the following restrictions are now in place:
1) Only those who are at least 18 years of age and are in a patient's immediate family should plan to visit.
Restricting visits to immediate family only will reduce the overall traffic in the hospital. This will reduce the opportunity for the virus to spread. The restriction regarding age is in place both to protect our patients as well as children. Children are at a particularly high risk when it comes to both contracting and transmitting viral infections.
2) DO NOT VISIT anyone here if you have experienced the flu or flu-like symptoms in the last seven days.
Even if you feel perfectly fine now...or if you feel like you may just be starting to come down with something, but aren't that bad, please do not visit. Fever, sore throat, chills, and muscle aches are all typical flu-like symptoms.
3) If you are a patient entering the facility for any type of care and you are currently experiencing flu-like symptoms, you will be asked to wear an isolation mask.
4) Please use hand sanitizer frequently, including immediately before and immediately after spending time in a patient's room or any patient care area.
This will significantly reduce the spread of germs, as will remembering to sneeze/cough into your arm, your shoulder, or a tissue...NOT YOUR HANDS. We spread germs from our mouths to objects and surfaces with our hands more frequently than any other way.
These restrictions will remain in place until we see a measureable decrease in flu cases in the area.
We know that asking for your cooperation in adhering to these restrictions is a big request. Being able to spend time with your loved ones when they aren't well is your highest priority and we're asking you to potentially change your behaviors, for a temporary period, regarding this priority. Please know that we would not impose upon your time with your family were it not of great importance to the overall health of our hospital population and the broader community we serve.
