A Note From Janice
Dear Horse Lovers,
It is coming on the time of the year when the weather and holidays slow our riding down a bit. We sometimes feel more like cuddling on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate than trying to ride with the temperatures dropping.
But by the start of the new year, it is time to ready ourselves for the next year of opportunity to become better partners for our horses. Get out those books and DVDs. Refresh your body's memory when you aren't riding - it will be the best gift you can give your horse this season! I want to thank all of you who attended my clinics during the past year, or who came to study with me in Florida. It has been a great year of teaching and learning for me. It's been such a pleasure to work with you, and to receive many wonderful e-mails that describe how our work has been an important part of your equestrian journey.
To this end, I have created a Pilates for Dressage® Associate Instructor program for certified Pilates teachers. I will be teaching the course in Ocala in January, and only one spot remains open. If you have a Pilates teacher, urge him or her to contact me. While I can teach many clinics, the prospect of having other teachers out there spreading the word is very exciting!
I will be in Florida for just the month of January, as I have new Pilates apprentices at the studio that need my attention this winter and spring. I am teaching a PFD® Transformational Camp with Sarah Martin and two spots remain. See below for more information. I hope to see you there!
Have a warm and safe holiday season,
Janice

Looking for an intensive, immersive Pilates for Dressage® experience? Consider visiting Janice's farm as a working student
Jaimie Ringger has spent the last few weeks as a working student at Janice's Amber Waves farm. Jaimie decided she needed intense study with Janice to get past physical issues in her riding, and to develop her knowledge and awareness about how her body affects her horse and its movement. She's also finding her work with Janice carries over into her ultimate goal of becoming a Dressage trainer and instructor.
"Studying with Janice has helped me feel every part of my body, and independently move each part without throwing off the horse's balance," Jaimie said. "Janice's Pilates lessons have also helped me develop a better understanding of a half halt that is more fluid but still firm and effective, rather than rigged and restrictive."
Jaimie's goal is to continue Pilates work and to be more aware of her body to find the perfect combination of being relaxed and balanced.
