IN THIS ISSUE:

The President's Corner

As we move into Spring, my thoughts are focused on how well the CV team has given to our clients and community.

We strongly believe that the more successful our business becomes, the more responsibility we have to do our part in giving back.

I hope you, our readers, get a chance to meet some of our creative and spectacular team members - very soon!

EQUIPMENT HIGHLIGHT
Creative Visions has recently invested in new 20,000 lumens projectors.
Why, you may ask?

This is relevant because DPI's new TITAN 1080p Quad 2000-3D projectors deliver an incredibly bright, compact and efficient display for venues of any size. Audiences can expect dazzling imagery, even in rooms with ambient light. Advanced capabilities such as warp, blend and 3D functionality allow for truly memorable visuals!

Ask us about and look for new effects as we continue to improve and enhance our technology and capabilities at CV!
EVENT TIPS
What is the purpose of lighting and why is it important to a meeting or event?

1.  Visibility - to see and highlight what/who is on stage or in the room

2.  Selective Focus - to direct the audience's attention

3.  Modeling - to control contours and features with highlight and shadow

4.  Mood to alter visual impressions of drama, transition, excitement...

There are two main types of lights:

* Wash (diffuses light to create soft appearance); and

* Spot (used for controlled beams of focus).

Don't forget color!

BEHIND THE SCENES
Creative Visions 'Give Back' Day

The Team from Creative Visions spent a sunny, yet chilly February day at Hope Reins of Raleigh.  Hope Reins is a wonderful organization that uses "equine counselors" (horses!) to help children dealing with difficult life issues such as trauma, abuse, illness or that live in a high-risk environment.

Team CV was there to paint a barn on the ranch as a service project, along with several team-building activities which culminated in our roasting marshmallows over an open fire pit to make s'mores! A great day was had by all!

CV is additionally proud to provide annual in-kind partial sponsorships to the following organizations:

  • Raleigh Chamber of Commerce - Annual Meeting and Pinnacle Business Awards
  • American Heart Association - Heart Ball
  • Wake County SPCA - Fur Ball
  • Leadership Triangle - Goodmon Awards
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Hope Gala

... in addition to many others throughout the year.

CLIENT CLOSE UP!

We are thrilled to highlight our valued client, Winkie LaForce.  Winkie has been President of Leadership Triangle for over 10 years.

Winkie began her career as an educator and after teaching for 15 years, she pursued a graduate degree in Sports Administration - working with the U.S. Olympic Committee in 1987 and the Olympic Festival in the Triangle. She has also worked with the Special Olympics Summer Games and was part of the US delegation in the submission of the bid for the Pan American Olympic Games in 2007.

A couple of interesting facts about Winkie: she's been to Africa twelve times since 2000, assisting in development programs.  Winkie is an avid runner and tennis player.  She even ran the NY Marathon in 2000!  Winkie says the best part of her job is that it's always changing, never stagnant and the people she encounters along the way provide her with a great diversity of input.

Winkie and Leadership Triangle have produced the Goodmon Awards in recognition of regional leaders since 2002. The Awards recognize community leaders who are regionally-minded in their service.

Thank you Winkie - for all that you do for our community and for your partnership with Creative Visions to produce the Goodmon Awards event.

MEET THE STAFF!
Bill Overton - Project Manager, AV-Rx

This month, we feature Bill Overton, Project Manager for our AV-Rx division, delivering highly specialized audio-visual services to the pharmaceutical and medical device market. When not at work, Bill enjoys spending time with his wife Ann and their two great daughters, Sami and Gracie - as well as watching NC State basketball and football (go Wolfpack!).

* How did you first become involved in AV production?

By accident - I was planning on being a stay at-home dad when my wife became pregnant with our first child back in 2002. At the time, my wife worked for a production company and I had done some freelancing with the company. In a twist of fate three months after our daughter was born, my wife asked the owner if he would be interested in having me full-time and having her work part-time from home. Here we are 10 years later and the rest is history!

* If you could only name one, what would you say was your most interesting project at CV and why?
Working the Presidents' Council on Jobs and Competitiveness at NCSU. Some of the greatest business minds were there - it was inspirational.

* Name one memorable personal success from 2012

With a lot of studying and hard work, getting my CTS (Certified Technology Specialist).  It's a designation of achievement and the leading AV professional credential.

* What are your words to live by?
I think a sense of humor is key to a healthy, happy life. I love to laugh ... and I love to make others laugh!
