Share Your MMC Family History
Sister Aidan Bourke and several staff members are working on Mount Marty's Family History. If you had grandparents, parents, brothers and/or sisters who attended any of the schools - High School, College, Sacred Heart School of Nursing/Anesthesia, please send us the names and the school attended. Be sure and include full names. Send the information to Sr. Aidan at abourke@mtmc.edu or mail it to:   Mount Marty College,  Office of Advancement, 1105 W. 8th Street,  Yankton, SD 57078.

Thank you for helping us build this history!

Greetings to the All-School Alumni,

Dave Dickes '76

First of all, I would like to thank alums from all schools for your financial support this past year. Your donations and gifts have an immediate impact and allows Mount Marty College to grow our endowment and annual giving so we can increase scholarships, make decisions on the new nursing complex, update Cimpl Arena, build a sports field house, renovate dormitories and strengthen academic and student programs which are all part of an all-important new strategic plan. Interim President Tom Lorang shared this plan during a recent Yankton Press & Dakotan interview on February 4.

Also, Tom Lorang stated that in terms of long-range issues, "MMC is looking at accreditation, recruitment of students and staff, and delivery of courses through online and other means. The college is also looking at growing its enrollment at a time when its traditional market is shrinking in population, particularly college-age students."

Unfortunately, all these goals cost money. If each of us looks back to our days here on campus, private gifts from alumni and friends supported programs and student activities that benefited us in ways either we didn't know about or may not have realized at the time. Let's continue to "pay-it-forward" so the new students on campus can experience the best that an MMC education can offer on all fronts.

Again, thanks for your generosity in the past and I hope you'll continue in the future. Your financial support is a testament to your belief in the Mission of Mount Marty College, preparing students for a contemporary world of work, service to the human community, and personal growth.

Best regards,

Dave

MMC Presidential Search

The Board of Trustees of Mount Marty College is accepting applications for the President of the College. A terminal degree, a demonstrated record of strategic planning and administrative, financial, management, and fundraising skills are preferred. It is also preferred the President is a Catholic who lives his/her faith. It would be helpful to have an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing private higher education.

MMC's partner in the presidential search is The Spelman & Johnson Group (SJG), selected by the Presidential Search Committee. SJG is a specialized
search firm with a proven history of filling leadership positions within higher education. Both parties are excited to begin this journey with SJG and begin the next chapter of leadership at Mount Marty College.

Alum Spotlight

Chris Filsinger, C'08

There were several reasons Chris Filsinger decided to attend Mount Marty College. Being a teenager who was mostly interested in sports, the opportunity to play basketball was probably the biggest reason to choose Mount Marty initially. But Chris was also attracted to and came to appreciate the college's faith based mission. Attending an actual basketball game and then having the opportunity to meet some great people on his first visit, sealed the deal for Chris.
