November is a Month of Thanks!
Greetings to all Mount Marty Alumni,
The month of November is a potpourri of holidays, occasions, special days and really, an entire month to give thanks. One of the most well-known holidays of the year of course, is Thanksgiving, celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November, where there is no bigger a family tradition. Historically, Thanksgiving began as a tradition of celebrating the harvest of the year. Prayers of thanks and special thanksgiving ceremonies are common among almost all religions, especially after harvest. Another important day is All Saints Day, November 1st, the day in which Catholics worldwide celebrate all the saints, known and unknown, great ones and forgotten ones. It arose out of the Christian tradition of celebrating the martyrdom of the saints on the anniversary of their martyrdom. When martyrdom increased during the persecutions of the late Roman Empire, local dioceses instituted a common feast day in order to ensure that all martyrs, known and unknown were properly honored. Veteran's Day, a federal holiday, is always observed on November 11th, regardless of the day of the week it falls on. It is a day to celebrate the service of all military veterans, both men and women, of all ages, who have bravely served our country during war or peacetime. Please, take some time this day, to say thanks to our veterans! Put a smile on their face. Better yet, give a big hug to our veterans, because freedom isn't free! Please feel free to contact me at anytime. Dave

Spread the Word...
Mount Marty College (MMC) is in the process of embracing new and innovative ways to recruit future generations of Lancers. As alumni, there are things that you can do to help. Here's a list of potential ways you can make a difference:
Help spread the word on social media
- Post about your experience as an alumnus at MMC or why MMC is an excellent choice for a prospective student - write whatever is close to your heart and would help illustrate what makes MMC such a great college.
- Share news releases that appeal to prospective students or your areas of interest. On the MMC webpage (www.mtmc.edu) and the MMC eNewsletter are easy buttons that allow you to quickly share on Facebook, Twitter, blogs and through email.
Reach out to prospective students you know in your
community
- Consider church youth groups, high school organizations with which you volunteer and other prospective students you know in your community. Tell them why you love MMC and why they should consider MMC.
- Give a prospective student admissions materials. Contact Jill Paulson at 605.668.1293 or jill.paulson@mtmc.edu for prospective student information/admission materials.
- Attending an event at a high school, such as career day, where you know there will be a lot of prospective students. Consider taking some admissions materials with you or promoting MMC in your remarks.
- Host a recruitment night with other alumni to get prospective students together to share stories about your MMC experience.

Mount Marty College has some AMAZING graduate success stories to tell. We believe that our graduates offer the most compelling example of the value
of an MMC education and the transformation that takes place for our students
as they prepare for a career and life in general.
WE BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE SUCCESS STORIES!
Graduate success stories provide perspective, motivation and inspiration for
MMC faculty and staff, parents, prospective students and more!. We also believe that they show prospective employers the positive results they can
expect by hiring MMC graduates.
Because of this belief, we are entering into a dedicated campaign to find,
collect and share more of our graduate success stories within not only our MMC community, but also with the public at large through dedicated outcomes publications, website profiles, video testimonials and more.
