Registration forms will be sent out via mail soon to all alumni for this summer's All Schools "Rockin' Reunion," but online registration is now available. Here is a schedule of events for the weekend. We hope to see you there!

Alumna Named Executive Director at Avera
 

Marcene Dickes Marcene (Tomjack) Dickes, MMC Class of 1975, recently relocated from Chicago back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she has been named as the Executive Director of eCARE Clinical Services at Avera Heatlh. 

  

Avera eCARE is Avera Health's telehealth network which currently serves 162 hospitals and clinics across a 7 state area. Through eEMERGENCY, eICU, ePHARMACY, eCONSULT, and other eACCESS Services for Long Term Care, Acute Care in rural hospitals, and Urgent Care in Correctional Facilities. This visionary model provides rural patients 24 hour access to specialty care physicians, expert nurses, and pharmacists through advanced information and communication technologies. Prior to this position, Marcene had worked in staff, leadership and executive administrative roles throughout her nursing career in Omaha, Sioux Falls, Kansas City and Chicago.

 

Marcene graduated from Mount Marty with a degree in Nursing in December 1975 and married her classmate and Yankton native, David Dickes in October of 1976. Their family consists of five children and 3 grandchildren. On Sunday, May 5 Marcene was inducted into the MMC Athletic Hall of Fame with the 1972-1973 volleyball team. Marcene was especially honored and proud to be inducted into the Mount Marty Hall of Fame with her eldest son, Dr. Christopher Dickes, a point guard on the Hall of Fame's 1997-1998 Lancer's Men's Basketball Team and a 2000 graduate of MMC.

MMC Names Alumna as New VP of Finance
Ginger Moeller

 

While Ginger Moeller isn't very familiar with Yankton, her recent arrival to the city feels like a homecoming.

The new Vice President of Finance at Mount Marty College actually has an accounting degree from the school, but took her classes at the MMC campus in Watertown. Still, that fact doesn't keep Moeller from feeling she is now where she belongs.

 

Moeller most recently served as the associate controller at South Dakota State University in Brookings, but was primarily the accounting operations manager there since 2010.  Full story from the Yankton P&D...

Seeking Alumni Award Nominations
All Schools Reunion Weekend June 28-30, 2013!
2012 Alumni Awards Once again, we will be honoring three distinguished alumni at the All Schools Reunion during the weekend of June 28-30. 

The three alumni achievement awards include:
  • Distinguished Service to Mount Marty
  • Distinguished Service to Church and Community
  • Distinguished Professional Achievement

To nominate a fellow classmate or alumnus, please fill out the nomination form online.

Dr. Krause to Receive Honorary Degree

Dr. Krause During spring commencement exercises on May 11, 2013 Mount Marty College will award an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters to Dr. Carrol Krause. Commencement is being held in the Laddie E. Cimpl Arena at 2:00 pm.

Dr. Krause graciously came out of retirement to serve as Interim President at Mount Marty College from June 2001 - October 2002 and then again from April 2010 - June 2011.

Dr. Krause has an MS and BA from Wayne State College and an Ed.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He and his wife, Jo, currently reside in Rapid City, SD. They are the parents of six grown children and grandparents to 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Full story...
MMC Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

MMC Lancers Mount Marty College held its annual Lancer Athletic Recognition and Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies May 5th, 2013 on the campus of Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD.

Inductees in to the Hall of Fame were Kate Heine Pesicka, a women's basketball player from 1998 to 2002, the 1972 Lancer Volleyball Team, and the 1998 Lancer Men's Basketball Team. 

Current student-athletes were also recognized at the event. Award winners for the Lancer Club Awards, Lancer Champions of Character Award, and the Yankton Quarterback Club Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

Campus News

The Mount Marty College Division of Natural Sciences' Seminar on the "Interpret a Genome" program was held Friday, May 3. The "Interpret a Genome" program provides students in colleges and universities with access to recently sequenced microbial genomes selected as part of the DOE JGI's Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea (GEBA) project. Full story...

Mount Marty College Nurse Anesthetists Director Dr. Alfred Lupien was recently selected for Program Director of the Year honors by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He was nominated through the efforts of both the first and second year classes in the program. Full story...

Mount Marty College was honored to learn recently that grant writers, Dr. Paul Anders, Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies, and Dr. Nicholas Shudak, Assistant Professor and Division Chair of Education were awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Enduring Questions grant.
