Mount Marty College is excited to announce the dates for this summer's all schools reunion. We hope that alumni from all the different schools that have been associated with Mount Marty over the years will once again join us in Yankton for a weekend of family fun, catching up with classmates, baseball, hog roasting, music, dancing, and more!
Rockin' Reunion 2013
Friday, June 28 - Sunday, June 30
This year's theme is "Rockin' Reunion," featuring an alumni baseball game and a dance in the bistro. By popular demand, we will be bringing back the "Hog on the Hill" event from last year as well. We hope you will be able to join us, and watch your inbox and mailbox for more information in the coming months.

Men's Basketball Alumni Game & Reunion
Plan to join us for a reunion of all Lancer Men's Basketball players the weekend of February 16-17. Activities for Saturday will include:
- Morning alumni games
- Pregame tailgate from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with activities for kids of all ages
- Special seating and concessions for alumni and their families in Lancer Landing for the Women's and Men's games vs Concordia at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
- Post Game meal and "team bonding" in the evening

Homecoming 2013 Royalty Crowned
The Mount Marty College faculty, staff, and student body recently voted for homecoming royalty candidates among its eligible senior class. Five men and five women were chosen to be candidates for Lord and Lady Marben as part of the 54th Annual Homecoming festivities. On Friday, Feb. 1, Weston Swanson from Homer, Neb., and Brittany Little from Castlewood, So. Dak., were crowned Lord and Lady Marben.

New Nursing Students Recognized
The Mount Marty College Nursing Program hosted a Pledging Ceremony for its newly-admitted BSN Nursing Class of 2015 and Practical Nursing Class of 2013 on January 28, 2013, in the Bishop Marty Chapel. BSN and Practical nursing students pledged their commitment to the nursing profession - a life of work and dedication.
The Pledging ceremony is one of commitment to uphold the standards of the nursing profession. It celebrated the beginning of each nursing student's career as a student and then as a professional nurse.

"Secrets of Success" Speaker Series
All alumni are invited to be a part of the upcoming "Secrets of Success" speaker series. Mount Marty College invite our alumni to come to campus and talk about your college major and the impact it had on your career. Each month we will highlight a college major that is available at MMC. Details are currently being worked out for this program and we would like to get feedback from all of you who would be interested in participating. Alumni Volleyball Tourney Set for April 20
 This spring the MMC volleyball team will be hosting the annual Mount Marty College Alumni Volleyball Tournament on April 20 starting at 9:00 a.m. The plan is to have teams play a round robin to determine their team's placement for the tournament. The winners will receive a t-shirt. To register for the tournament, please fill out the tournament registration form. The cost to attend the Annual Alumni Tournament is $60.00 per team, with a 10 team cap. The money raised will go directly to the volleyball program. New Choral Director Starts Choral Union
The Mount Marty College department of music recently announced the creation of the Mount Marty Choral Union. The Choral Union, which meets on Tuesday nights on campus from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., is open to all singers ages freshmen in high school and up and no audition is required. The group will be preparing a Spring Concert for April 11 including pieces from Edward Elgar's Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands, Op. 27, and James Mulholland's Mementos of Millay. A concert will also be held on May 5th for the 75th Anniversary Concert at MMC with commissioned work by Stephen Yarborough.
The choir will regularly undertake large works from the Choral-Orchestral repertoire, as well as music in the standard, and growing, choral repertoire. For more information contact: Kenneth Tice, Assistant Professor of Music at kenneth.tice@mtmc.edu or 605-668-1539.

Writer's Tour Bringing O'Brien to Campus
Award-winning professional writer Dan O'Brien will be sharing his experiences, writings, and undying passion for the Great Plains, at the next presentation of the Great Plains Writers' Tour. O'Brien's presentation will be held on Tuesday, February 12th in Mount Marty College's Marian Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
Dan O'Brien is the author of numerous novels and memoirs, including Buffalo for the Broken Heart and The Contract Surgeon, winners of the Western Heritage Award for best nonfiction in 2001 and for best fiction in 1999, respectively. Buffalo for the Broken Heart was the One Book South Dakota selection for 2009. Full story... |

Dining Room Renovations
Over the students' Christmas break, work began on a major facelift in the dining hall at Mount Marty College. The entire front part of the serving line will be reconfigured. The new layout will offer multiple hot and cold wells, a pizza area, an Asian wok cooking area, as well as a new griddle.
The main dining room will get an aesthetic makeover with new decor, banquet quality tables and chairs, new paint and updated decorations along the walls. The dining room will also feature new counter areas for the drink and dessert areas.
