With softball season just a few days away, JV and Varsity spent the weekend working hard to get the fields game-ready; however, it was also a lot of fun and a great team-bonding event. Go Cougars!

This past Sunday, February 22, over 100 "Women of Heart" (moms, daughters, aunts, grandmothers, alums and faculty of CHS) participated in the annual Mother/Daughter retreat in the Garaventa Center.

Together, they reflected on ways they support each other and ways to reinforce the sacred bond that is always a work in progress!  Through reflective sharing, witness talks, meditation, creating a memento, table fellowship, and culminating in the celebration of the Eucharist....it was a day of deepening Communion.

Here are a few comments from the participants:

"Enlightening!"

"Very relaxing and needed!"

"Emotional"

"A much-needed time of prayer and reflection."

"Wonderful for my mind and soul."

"Incredibly healing ... full of love.'

"Heartwarming."

"Spiritual."

"Peaceful and reassuring."

Thank you to all who attended and helped make this special event possible. May the blessings of the retreat continue to warm the hearts of our CHS community.

Congratulations to Carondelet Sophomore Sarah Gullixson (the redhead on the right) who was recently featured in photographer Mihaela Noroc's project "The Atlas of Beauty" which is a project to show that beauty is everywhere ... "it's not a matter of cosmetics, race, or social status, but more about being yourself. Global trends make us look and behave the same, but we are all beautiful because we are different."

Carondelet will be hosting a Parent information Meeting from Stanford University's Challenge Success Program on March 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Garaventa Center.  The presentation features The Well-Balanced Student - This workshop examines the tensions that can occur between students, parents, and educators over issues such as homework, grades, and the culture of competition. We'll offer parents research-based strategies to create healthier home and school environments.

Challenge Success Information-

Today's high-pressure, fast-paced culture can interfere with healthy child development. At Challenge Success, we believe that our society has become too focused on grades, test scores and performance, leaving little time and energy for our kids to become resilient, successful, meaningful contributors for the 21st century. Based on sound educational research, the strategies and tools that we provide can be used immediately to help reduce stress in your family and help your child develop the strengths and skills she needs now and in the future.
