natalieShowing our Support for the Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Foundation

This Friday, September 12 the Carondelet Cheer and Dance teams will be wearing purple bows in their hair at the DLS football game as a way to honor Natalie Giorgi who died last August at the age of 13 from anaphylaxis caused by a peanut allergy.  Louis Giorgi, DLS class of '86 and Joanne (McGuire) Giorgi, CHS class of '86, are Natalie's parents.  Louis and Joanne were both very involved in the DLS and CHS community while attending high school. They were both on the Homecoming court.  Joanne was both a cheerleader and a song girl for Carondelet and De La Salle.

In order to reduce dangerous food allergy deaths by spreading public awareness, providing education regarding emergency response, and increasing the availability of epinephrine injectors in public places, the family started the Natalie Giorgi Sunshine Foundation which we hope you will take a moment to visit.

CCCClass of 2015 - College Counseling

As you can imagine, September is very busy in the College and Career Center with individual appointments, group meetings, recommendation packet workshops, college rep visits, and lots of questions. Seniors have been informed that September 25 is the deadline to give rec packets to teachers and advisors for all applications that are due before Christmas. We have held three workshops so far and have three additional workshops scheduled to help seniors put together their packets. Because letters of recommendation can play a significant role in the application process, it is important that students provide complete information and give recommenders sufficient time to write their letters. Last year our teachers and advisors submitted hundreds of recommendations to colleges on behalf of the senior class!

One way for parents to help in this process is by completing the Parent Statement on the Teacher Rec Survey on Naviance.  This is your opportunity to "brag" about you daughter and her gifts.  Your insights can help teachers and advisors as they write their recommendations.

ybkClass of 2015 - Senior Family Ad Sales now Open!

Early Bird Special

Complete your Order Before October 1st and Save $$$!

It is that time of the year to think about purchasing a Senior Family Ad in the yearbook. This section is the section that most students immediately turn to when they first pick up their books. It always brings a laugh, a tear, a smile... and we know you will want to be part of this section. This is your opportunity to put in that adorable picture(s) of your senior... or that hysterical photo you have threatened to show the world!

Ad sales are now open.  Purchase early and avoid the deadline rush. Absolutely no ads will be accepted after Friday, October 17.  Any Ad that is missing a component (photos, message or payment) will be considered incomplete.

For more information or to purchase an ad go to the Parents page on the Carondelet website or click here.

To Contact the Yearbook Staff: If you are having any difficulties or have questions, please contact the yearbook staff at [email protected] (preferred). This year the Carondelet Yearbook Adviser is Ms. Michelle Koski. Because our yearbook staff is frequently working on a deadline, it may take time to follow up on a phone or email message. For this reason, we ask for your understanding and assistance in keeping communication clear, simple, complete, and brief, whenever possible.

sophsSophomore Corazon Retreats

During the first semester your daughter will be participating in a one-day Corazon Retreat at the Diocesan Youth Retreat Center in Lafayette.  The theme of the retreat is "Women of Heart" which explores the story and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph from their beginning in 1650 in LePuy, France, and how our young women are invited to be "women of heart" today!   Each Sophomore Religious Studies class, along with their teacher, will travel by bus on the designated Tuesday to the Retreat Center.  You are encouraged to check in with your daughter about her particular date and support her with your prayers.  She will be bringing home a permission form that you need to complete.  Because of the nature of this retreat day, it is not necessary that she bring her backpack or iPad.  However, she will need to bring her lunch and something to drink, along with a blanket or beach towel for the meditation.  We provide all the other materials needed for the retreat.

From past years we know what a bonding experience this is, as well as an enriching spiritual experience that includes presentations by the teacher, Sister Joann and the four Senior Peer Counselors who lead the small groups for the day.  The participants will have an opportunity to share their reflections in small groups, experience the relaxing and renewing aspects of meditation, journal about the various ways they are growing in their own faith journey, as well as a time for basking in the natural beauty and serenity of the Lafayette Retreat Center.

Know how much we appreciate your support!   If you have any questions, give me a call at 925 686-5353 x179.

--Sister Joann Heinritz, CSJ
