Welcome Mrs. Bonnie Cotter and Ms. Janet Wilks
Loving God, you have blessed Carondelet High School since its beginning in 1965, with great women of heart, faith and courage, namely the ninety-one Sisters of St. Joseph who founded and have served this school. Along with the Sisters there have been countless dedicated women and men educators and administrators. They have shared their gifts and energy to further our Mission of bringing LIGHT to our world.
Today we welcome and bless Mrs. Bonnie Cotter, our new President and Ms. Janet Wilks our new Director of Development:
May they carry on the Mission entrusted to us,
attentive to the signs and needs of our time.
May they seize every opportunity to serve God
and the dear neighbor.
May they be women of great adaptability and flexibility,
women of heart, faith and courage,
women bold in their undertaking, relying on
God's loving Providence.
Mrs. Cotter and Ms. Wilks,
May God be your light!
We would also like to thank Sister Ann Bernard O'Shea who has been our interim President since the sudden death of Jennifer Martin last April and who will remain on staff as the senior advisor to Mrs. Cotter for the 2014-2015 school year. We are most grateful to Sister Ann Bernard for her generous leadership during this interim period and for her ministry in advancing the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

Jefferson Awards
Congratulations to the three students who received Jefferson Awards last week for their outstanding community service.
Addie Smith - Addie volunteers at Christ the King Church and John Muir Medical Center. At church she is very involved with the Religious Education Programs, and she is a Peer Leader for the Confirmation and Youth Group Programs, Children's Liturgy of the Word, and Vacation Bible Camp. Addie works in the Oncology Center at John Muir Center, which is a non-stop job assisting with paperwork, errands and transporting patients in wheelchairs.
Katie Berlin - Since 2007, Katie has been volunteering at the Bay Area Crisis Nursery in Concord. Katie volunteers each week for four hours, and some of her typical tasks include: organizing donations, managing the social media accounts, supervising volunteering groups during the holiday season, and working at fundraising events. She has developed a long-lasting relationship with the Nursery and they have come to depend on her leadership.
Brittany Bates - Not only is Brittany receiving an award here at Carondelet, but she will also be receiving the KPIX5 Bay Area Jefferson Award for her Penny Sale project. For this project, Brittany went to local dry cleaners where she collected hundreds of freshly cleaned and abandoned clothes which she then sold for a penny each to the homeless at a local church (pennies were also provided). With her Penny Sale project, Brittany gives dignity to the homeless by providing them with an opportunity to purchase what they need. Brittany will be interviewed by TV journalist Sharon Chin on April 7 and we will let you know when it will be aired on KPIX5.

Students and Teachers in Wheelchairs
As you know, this Lent we are raising money to buy wheelchairs for those in developing countries through a project we are calling "Raised from the Ground Up." For this project, we are collecting money to donate to the Free Wheelchair Mission.
This past week, in solidarity with those we seek to help, 11 students and 5 teachers volunteered to spend a day in a wheelchair - including one student, Molly Norris, who decided to spend her whole day including Junior Prom in a wheelchair. Friday was a day with many challenges for Molly because the wheelchair slowed her down and every-day tasks became more difficult; however, she can imagine what a life changing experience it must be for the people who receive the wheelchairs; for them it will be one of the greatest days of their lives because they will now have mobility in a way that they may never have had before.
Thank you to all of our volunteers:
Frosh: Nellie Webb, Anjhelaine Escano, Joanne Magano and Destinee Interiano
Sophs: Katie Vella and Kristina Cozort
Juniors: Bianca Roche, Madi Sullivan and Molly Norris
Seniors: Victoria Ericksen and Kaitlyn Pahler
Teachers: Phil Miller, Anne Bossert, Lee Trampleasure, Mary Beth Dittrich and Michelle Koski
