Welcome back to school! We hope that you had a wonderful Christmas break with family and friends and that you are well-rested and ready for 2014! The new year and new semester brings a fresh sense of purpose and renewed energy that gives each of us the opportunity to reflect on our values and focus on what we hope to accomplish in the coming year/semester.

Always one of the gifts of being part of this community ... the ability to pray for our colleagues through the good and the "not so" good.  Please keep Mrs. Elaine Vecchi (business manager) in your prayers as her sister died this last week and please keep Ms. Elizabeth O'Sullivan (science teacher) and Mrs. Joanne Missaggia (registrar) in your prayers as their mothers died over the break.   May God's healing grace shine upon them...  And in gratitude for Mrs. Jessica Mix (Assistant Principal) who gave birth to a healthy baby girl.  We also pray that our students and families find support from their family, friends and faith during their times of need and also offer prayers of thanksgiving for all of the good in life.

"I thank you God for you really do hear me. You listen to me, I will keep singing to you, and I will always try to be thankful."

May God bless you in this New Year.

While the new clothing, tech gadgets or accessories may have fulfilled your daughter's Christmas list, nothing compares to the gift of sharing time with your daughter.

On Sunday, February 9, join us for our annual Mother/Daughter retreat at Carondelet High School which is open to all alumnae, young women of high school age, their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, etc. to gather for a special time of celebrating their unique bond and relationship.

The connection among women of heart is a sacred gift---and in

this retreat setting a dynamic process of sharing deepens that bond.

Mark your calendar now for Sunday, February 9 from 9:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and plan to participate!

Parents and Guardians, please mark your calendars to attend one of the two PSAT/ Road to College sessions that will be offered this week.

At these sessions the College Counselors will return and interpret the PSAT results and present information on the National Merit Scholarship Program. The Road to College sessions will also break down the steps needed to prepare for the college application process including a timeline, preparing for ACT/SAT testing, conducting research, and outline the resources provided by Carondelet.

Attendance at one of these meetings is mandatory.

You may choose to attend one of two dates:

  • Thursday, January 16 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m
  • Saturday, January 18 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Both sessions offer the same material and will be held in the Garaventa Center. It is very important that all juniors and parents or guardians attend.  There are many misconceptions associated with the college application process. This is your opportunity to hear the facts firsthand and to have your questions answered.

transcriptCLASS OF 2014:  Mid-Year Transcripts

Many private colleges require students to submit mid-year transcripts (grades from first semester senior year).

For students who requested initial transcripts to be sent with their applications, mid-year grades will automatically be sent to colleges by Mrs. Missaggia when they are available in late January.

There is no need to request mid-year transcripts unless:

  • seniors have a form that needs to be mailed with the transcript
  • new information needs to be sent to the colleges with the mid-year report. New information would include:
    • a change in schedule
    • a significant award or honor
    • a D or F grade in the first semester
    • extenuating circumstances that affected the student's academic performance in the first semester.

(Seniors will need to meet with their College Counselor to present the new information in early January.)

Please note:  Mid-year transcripts or reports are not sent to University of California or California State University campuses. If your daughter has information she needs to report to UC or CSU campuses, please encourage her to consult with her CHS College Counselor.

PSFirst Semester Grades

In order to conserve paper and protect our environment, we no longer mail home report cards. Instead, you may view your daughter's grades by logging into your PowerSchool account and selecting "grade history" on the left. Comments from the teachers can be viewed under "teacher comments", also on the left.

If you or your daughter have any questions about her grade, she should contact her teacher.

If you have any trouble logging in, please contact Mitch Ward [email protected].
