Liturgical dancers share their "light" at the St. Joseph's Day celebration
Today the Carondelet students, faculty and staff celebrated St. Joseph's Day (our patron, and the patron of the Universal Church) and shared our "light" with over 20 Sisters of St. Joseph and 25 Sisters of St. Joseph Associates (which included 4 current faculty members Ms. Miller, Ms. Koski, Mr. Silveira and Mrs. Sullivan).

St. Joseph's Day is part of a week-long Sisterhood celebration at Carondelet, where students and faculty/staff celebrate their connection to the larger Sisters of St. Joseph family.  As an institution founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet we are part of a large network of schools, hospitals and other social service organizations.  Along with all these institutions, we take time to stop, remember, and celebrate our history and the saint to whom we are dedicated.

As we celebrate St. Joseph's Day, we are mindful of all the Sisters of St. Joseph who have gone before us.  We remember their compassionate service to those in need and are inspired by them to make a difference to the needy of our own time, the "dear neighbor."    We renew our commitment to the sisterhood of letting our light shine!

theatreCHS/DLS Theatre Arts Company presents "As You Wish"

"Twoo wuv"...hem, "true love" is something to which we all aspire. Who would not search to the ends of the earth for such a relationship?

Come join us for the fairy-tale to end all fairy-tales, the love between beautiful Buttercup and handsome Westley. Of course, much like most relationships, theirs has several obstacles: an egotistical Prince Humperdinck, a Fire Swamp, screaming eels, the evil Count Rugen, a duel almost to the death. Do not give up hope, the couple also has the strongest of friends among Fezzik the Giant and Inigo the sword fighter. We would love to share the story with you. Would you like to hear it? As you wish....

Admissions Decisions:
Over the next couple of weeks, your daughters will be receiving the last of their admissions decisions. It is a time of great anticipation and can also be a challenging time for many with mixed emotions and mixed blessings. Most all of our students will have some level of disappointment to deal with whether it is not being admitted to all of their schools or not receiving financial aid or scholarships that can make attending a desired college a reality. We are sensitive to the fact that denial is a part of the college application process. If you are concerned about your daughter's reaction or need help providing context, please feel free to contact us in the College and Career Center:
Mrs. Linda Breazeale (A-F) lbreazeale@carondeleths.org
Mrs. Lisa Sciacca (G-O) lsciacca@carondeleths.org
Mrs. Neville Susich (P-Z) nsusich@carondeleths.org

Financial Aid for College:
Understanding Financial Aid offers can be confusing. When comparing offers from different colleges, it is important to know the difference between grants, loans, scholarships, and offers of work study. To help you with the process, each year the California Student Aid Commission publishes a guidebook. Please have your daughter come to the College & Career Center to pick up a copy of the 2013-2014 Fund Your Future publication to help you (or follow the link to the online version).

College Athletics:

If your daughter will be signing a National Letter of Intent with an athletics aid agreement, please make sure she has filled out and turned in the Carondelet form from the CHS Guide for Prospective Student Athletes included here.

To properly honor her achievements in the graduation program and other CHS publications, we will need official verification from the college.

Some of our senior scholar-athletes will want to FAX their NLIs from Carondelet; to do so seniors must have this form on file along with their college acceptance.  If your daughter has any questions, please have her come to the College & Career Center.

SATClass of 2014 - ACT & SAT Exams

We advise all juniors to take the ACT with Writing Assessment in April or June and the SAT Reasoning Test in May or June.  Juniors considering colleges which require SAT Subject Tests should register for the June test date.

Please be advised that although SAT Subject Tests are no longer required for the University of California, students may submit Subject Test results to demonstrate proficiency in specific areas.  Other selective colleges may recommend or require Subject Tests.

Preparing for the exams is a critical component of the process. We suggest students use Method Test Prep on Naviance to prepare for the ACT and SAT. Online registration for ACT is available at www.act.org and at www.collegeboard.com for SAT. If your daughter needs help registering for tests, accessing Method Test Prep, or has questions, please encourage her to come to the College & Career Center.

escripEscrip Program

Did you know that by making purchases with a registered grocery loyalty, debit or credit card you could be helping Carondelet in the process?

How it works: Simply register with Escrip and select Carondelet High School (group ID # 5825088) as the recipient of your Escrip support.  Then, when you use any of these cards, a portion of your card purchase is donated to Carondelet.

It's that simple and will literally take less than 5 minutes for you to set up!

Thank you for your support!
