Novena to St. Joseph
In the Catholic Church, a novena is a devotion consisting of prayers said on nine successive days, asking to obtain a special petition.
In Sicily in the 17th century, the custom had sprung up among religious communities preparing for the feast of their founder with a novena of Masses. So as we prepare to celebrate St. Joseph, our patron saint, on March 19, we will pray together on nine school days, a prayer novena in honor of St. Joseph. We are invited to reflect on a special intention for ourselves, our family or anyone in need and entrust that to St. Joseph during our novena. (You can find the daily novena on the front page of our website.) Prayer for Tuesday, March 5:
O God, You spoke to St. Joseph in dreams when he needed direction. Speak to us now and guide us in our busy lives with listening hearts and dreams of hope. St. Joseph, pray for us. God is my light.

Chorale Wins Gold!
Congratulations to the Carondelet/De La Salle Chorale who performed at the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim this past weekend. Fifty vocalists from our Chorale ensemble competed at the festival and earned a GOLD rating (highest rating)! In addition, the choir received the Spirit of Anaheim Award which was presented to only one school in the competition. This award was presented to the school that best represents the community that they come from, and was given to our students for their excellent attitude and overall 'sportsmanship.' Also, senior TJ Wiley was recognized for her excellence in accompanying and was specially selected to receive a Heritage Award by the adjudicators. She did a fabulous job! Lastly, because of their high rating, they were invited to perform at an elite Heritage Festival series, a "Festival of Gold" at Carnegie Hall in New York City. While it's uncertain if Chorale will be able to make it to NY next year, it certainly was an honor to be invited!

The Carondelet Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is an essential fundraising initiative that supplements tuition revenue. Each year the entire Carondelet community of parents, alumnae, parents of graduates and friends are asked to participate through making a gift to the Annual Fund. These donations-along with active volunteerism, mutual collaboration, community building, and prayer-sustain Carondelet.
Participation is all it takes! There is strength in numbers, and gifts add up quickly when everyone contributes. Every dollar from every donor really does make a difference.
Gifts are used for: academic and campus ministry programs, faculty professional development, educational technology, student tuition assistance, facilities improvement, and so much more.
If you have not yet made a donation during the current school year, we ask you to join our community of generous supporters with an Annual Fund gift.
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support that helps to make Carondelet an exceptional School and enhances the educational experience of all students throughout all academic and co-curricular programs.
Your contribution will further Carondelet's mission of helping our students identify their unique talents and become alumnae of heart, faith, and courage, women whose strong values guide them to make their world a better place.
You may donate online via the School website. Feel free to call Betsy Ringrose, Associate Director of Development (925) 686-5353, ext. 181 or email bringrose@carondeleths.org with any questions.
Thank you for your generosity and support,
Betsy Ringrose Associate Director of Development

Staged Accident Aims to Make Students Think Twice
Junior and Senior students were reminded of the dangers of drinking and driving through the "Every 15 Minutes" car crash scenario yesterday and an assembly/"funeral" today. This emotionally charged program is designed to instill teenagers with the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking and/or distracted driving and if it saves just one life... it was worth it.
Thank you to EVERYONE who helped make this a possibility.
