Greetings from Debbie Santos, Director of Finance

Carondelet's Business Office serves over 750 families and 100 staff members.  The team consists of Marya Davis, Director of Human Resources, Debbie Santos, Director of Finance and Elaine Vecchi '72, Business Manager.  The Business Office supports the Board of Directors, President and Principal in their fiduciary responsibilities - we maintain the annual budget and report operating results to the school's leadership teams on a regular basis.

The Business Office is also responsible for tuition collection and are here to answer any questions you have regarding your account.  We utilize a third-party tuition collection agency, Smart Tuition, to assist us with tuition management.  Did you know you can make a tuition payment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with Smart Tuition?  Did you know that you can create your own personal Smart Tuition account where you can make payments and view balances due?  The Business Office is happy to assist you with your account or you may contact Smart Tuition directly at (888) 868-8828, parents@smarttuition.com or visit www.parents.smarttuition.com.

Sincerely,

visionsofxmasCountdown to Visions of Christmas
(for everything Visions - please visit the Visions of Christmas web page regularly)

The countdown has begun.  The first of seven Visions of Christmas events will take place in just 20 days!

Please pay careful attention over the next several weeks to all of the available news and updates regarding Visions - you wouldn't want to miss even one important detail.

For reservations, PIP hours, donations and more visit the Visions of Christmas page.

Reservations Update!
The Wednesday Tea and the Friday Holiday High Tea and Fashion Show are already Sold Out and you wouldn't want to miss your opportunity to attend one of these fabulous and fun Visions events.  Don't wait to make your reservations.  Limited tickets are available for the Tuesday and Thursday teas, the Taste of Christmas and Breakfast with Santa.

We are still in need of Financial Sponsorships and In-kind Donations.
Financial sponsorships help to underwrite the cost of putting on the Visions events and when we are completely underwritten, EVERY penny we make goes to tuition assistance.  Last year's $252,000 in proceeds helped with the over $1.1 million dollars in tuition assistance granted so far for the 2012-2013 school year.  In-kind donations help us create amazing gift baskets and silent or live auction prizes that raise many more dollars for our cause.  All levels of support make a difference and are greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU to the many of you that have already responded with financial and in-kind contributions.

ModelUNStudents Shine at Model UN

"Tell me, I'll forget; Show me, I'll remember; Involve me, I'll understand."-Chinese Proverb

This past weekend, 33 Carondelet students joined over 300 local high school students in the 22nd annual Contra Costa County Model United Nations Conference at DVC in Pleasant Hill.  Here, they work to understand the United Nations by acting as delegates for nations and negotiate on that country's behalf.

A special congratulations to the following students who won special Delegate Awards for their participation:  Madi Aberer, representing the Legal Committee for Pakistan; Shannon Connolly and Samantha Miller representing the Security Council for Pakistan; and Caitlin Listek representing the General Assembly Fourth Committee for Kazakhstan.

parentlitParent/Daughter Liturgy

When asked about God's greatest commandment, Jesus replied: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." This past Sunday, November 4, nearly 200 participants gathered to proclaim and celebrate this gospel of love at the Parent/Daughter Liturgy and Brunch.

Thank you to everyone who made this special day possible, especially our Chairperson, Linda D'Souza.

missingClass of 2013 - Colleges & Missing Documents

This week's most frequently asked question:

"My daughter received an email that a college she applied to was missing some documents, such as transcripts and recommendations. What should she do?"
  1. First of all, don't panic.
  2. It is important to understand the volume of documents that colleges receive. For example, last year, 8 million School Forms were submitted through the Common Application, alone.  It takes some time for colleges to process documents and to update their records and student portals.
  3. To reassure your daughter, suggest that she come to the College & Career Center so we can show her a Naviance edocs report which indicates when documents were submitted, received, and/or printed by a college.
  4. Although documents and applications can be submitted electronically in a few seconds, it takes much more time than that to be processed.

checkcollegeClass of 2013 - Checking College Applications

Please remind your daughters to print out their college applications and come to the College & Career Center to have them checked. We are happy to check all applications. It is particularly important to have CSU and UC apps checked to ensure that all self-reported courses and grades are properly entered.

There should be no rush to submit an incorrect application that does not accurately reflect a student's record and could jeopardize an admissions decision.

Once an application has been submitted, students are not able to access the application to make corrections.
