DECISIONS AND DREAMS:
GETTING AT THE WHOLE TRUTH
Whenever we're faced with hard decisions in our waking life, we often find there are compelling arguments and motivations for all the possible choices before us. In the face

of that dilemma, many of us decide to ask our dreams "what should I do?"
Most often, the best way dreams can help us is to draw our attention to previously unconscious factors and influences on that process of deciding. For that reason, a much better question to ask our dreams is "what am I overlooking as I make this decision?"

THE SYMBOLIC QUALITY
OF EMOTIONS IN DREAMS
When we tell a dream many of us find ourselves saying, "but the feelings were so strong!" meaning they can only be taken at face value.
Ultimately there is no more reason to take the emotions in a dream literally than there is to
take any other element of the dream literally. But emotions are so powerful that it seems impossible to hang onto this idea. We'll explore the symbolic quality of emotions themselves and discover ways to see more deeply into the emotional narratives of dreams and waking life.

GIVING THANKS FOR PARADOX
My experience is that the more deeply a person ventures into the experience Carl Jung called the process of individuation, the more inevitable it is that we will encounter unresolvable paradox. These personal/collective (i.e. archetypal) paradoxes aren't so much puzzles to be solved as they are

inevitable manifestations of the human condition; we're better off consciously acknowledging them and working with them. The deeper nature and character of these inevitable paradoxical awarenesses is always revealed most dramatically in our dreams.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- How do I DO an online video class?
The seminars will use Zoom.us, free software available at
zoom.us. You can use Mac or PC. You'll need a microphone and a video camera (both are built into Macs), although you can still participate via phone if you are unable to set up a camera and mic. After you register, Kathy will send you further instructions.
If you need to purchase a mic and camera, just go to some place like Best Buy and have them suggest the appropriate camera and mic for your computer.
At the time of the meeting, be at your computer about 5 minutes before the meeting is scheduled to start, with your web camera, mic, and speakers turned on (unless you have chosen to participate by phone only).
You will receive an email from Jeremy with a clickable link to the meeting, and with phone-in information if you need that instead.
After you join the meeting via video you will see Jeremy and the other participants on your screen. If you choose to join by phone only, you will obviously not be able to see the group and there will be a blank icon on our screens representing you, but you can participate without issue.
- Do I need previous experience to participate in the seminars?
No, everyone is welcome.
- Can I test out my "set up" by doing a practice Zoom session?
Yes, you can do this with Kathy.

PARTICIPATORY ONLINE COURSES IN DREAM WORK & TRANSFORMATIVE FILM WORK STARTING IN JULY
The Institute of Transformative Studies (ITS) provides online classes rooted in a transformative vision of personal education and professional development. The Institute was created by transpersonal educator Chris Olsen, Ph.D., Matt Stollenwerk, and Jeremy Taylor, D.Min. (founding faculty member). Our classes currently focus on using dreams and films to access inner wisdom in a group setting. Through interactive video sessions we offer a highly experiential learning environment that engages not only the minds, but also the hearts, spirits, intuitions, and social lives of our students.
Jeremy Taylor will be teaching two courses:
SATURDAY, JULY 16
Shared Visions: Applying Dream
Work Principles to Group Filmwork
Led by Jeremy Taylor & Chris Olsen
Time: 10:00am - 4:00pm PDT
Cost: $45 ($90 Course with certificate for 0.5 CEUs)
Films can transport us to a dream-like space, full of symbolism, imagery, and projection. And much like dreams, films can also bring wisdom and healing by connecting us to unconscious material. We will watch several award-winning short films, then together explore our shared film experiences. Participants will experience a group process in which psychological film projections are uncovered and explored in order to gain insight into ourselves. This workshop serves as an excellent introduction to the courses Jeremy and Chris will individually offer in July.
MONDAYS, JULY 25-August 15
Introduction to Archetypal
Group Projective Dream Work
Led by Jeremy Taylor
Time: 5:30-7:30pm PDT
Cost: $160 (0.8 CEUS available)
This course provides a basic orientation to the transpersonal, archetypal language and images, the basics of unconscious projection, basic dream group etiquette, and a brief survey of resource materials available. Each session includes Q&A and discussion time, and the opportunity for participants to practice dream work in the large group. Participants in this course may have the opportunity to participate as small-group session leaders in future implementations of this course, and receive discounts or waivers on other dream work courses.
Four-week Class led by Chris Olsen beginning July 27, 5:30-7:30 PDT: "Introduction to Transformative Filmwork"
