Council News
On Sunday June 11, 2016, Leatherstocking Council presented for the first time a Council Level Venturing Leadership Award to Meghan Coughlin.  This award is presented by council to youth Venturers who have made exceptional contributions to Venturing and who exemplify the Venturing Code and Oath. Councils may present only 2 Leadership awards per year.

Meghan Coughlin has been active in Scouting for many years. She began when she was just a little girl helping her family while at Camp Kingsley. Over the years she has been on Camp Staff holding positions such as Counselor-In-Training, Trading Post Manager, Leave No Trace Instructor and currently Certified BSA Lifeguard for this years upcoming Cub Scout Resident Camp. She has held many positions within Venturing Crew 20 and currently is registered in Venturing Crew 40 as Vice President of Program.

In 2012, she decided to enroll in Longhouse Council's National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) Course as a participant. Megan served as a NYLT Team Guide for Revolutionary Trails Council (Spring 2013) and Longhouse Council (Fall 2013).  She later served as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for Revolutionary Trails Council Course (Spring 2014), and she became the Spring of 2015's NYLT Course Leader for Revolutionary Trails Council.

Meghan was also very active while in high school. She played Field Hockey, served as the Captain of the Nordic Ski Team, VP of the SADD Club, and a member of the National Honor Society. Meghan is graduating from Camden High School this year and is enrolled at Utica College this fall in their Nursing program.

DeMenezes, Eddy and Brown recently completed an arched wooden bridge to earn requirements and pins. They engraved the "Scout Law" into the planks. The
bridge was donated to the agriculture department at Stockbridge Valley School for the nature Trail. The boys would like to thank Lowes of Oneida and Kimes TrueValue of Oneida for donating the materials and Steve Brown for guiding them in construction.
