New Lion Program @ Leatherstocking Council

The Leatherstocking Council is proud to announce that it has been selected to be a host of the national Lions Cub Pilot Program. Lions is a specially designed program for kindergarten age boys. While many Cub Scout units have been offering a Lions program for the last several years, it was an unofficial version of the program. 

The Council will be informing leaders when the new Materiel is available at the Scout Offices.

Saturday April 16th - Syracuse, NY
The 2016 Commissioner Summit and College of Commissioner Science is set for Saturday April 16th at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, NY. This event is designed to help Commissioners learn more about effective unit service. This yearly event brings Commissioners together from all over Central New York and Vermont.

Cub Scout Camping Brochure Now Outcub
The 2016 Cub Scout Camping Brochure is now out and being mailed to all registered Cub Scout families. The brochure outlines all the great Cub Scout camping opportunities including Mom and Me Weekend, Cub Scout Day Camps, Resident Camp, Webelos Camp, and new in 2016 - Fishing Derby Weekend at Camp Kingsley. Extra brochures will be at the Council offices and is available as a PDF here.

The Leatherstocking Council continues to plan for the 2017 Jamboree. Which will be held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve is West Virginia. Whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock climbing and bouldering, and mountain biking are just a few of the activities offered at the Summit. There's also skateboarding, BMX, shooting sports, and zip-line challenge courses. And that's just the beginning of the adventures to be had July 15-29th 2017.

The cost of the event will be $1675 and that includes transportation, jamboree fee, uniforms, food and more. Call Tom or John at the Council office for more info.

Council Store News:
Both Council Stores will be staying open. This mean that you will be able to visit either store to shop or conduct your Scouting business. 

The Utica Council Store is slashing prices on all remaining popcorn. See Popcorn Flier for Prices.

Mom And Me Cub Camp:
Mom & Me is a special weekend of adventure for mom and son  Friday, May 20 - Saturday, May 21 at Camp Kingsley in Ava, NY. $20.00 per person includes event patch and Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"Nice to Meet 'Cha!" Join us at our Spring 2016 Council Camporee! This year's event will be held at Henderson Scout Reservation in Maryland, NY. You'll be able to get to know your new Scouting family, Experience Camp Henderson in the spring and participate in an  awesome weekend of program.
