NEW SCOUT EXECUTIVE

We are very excited to announce that a new Scout Executive has been selected! Steven McEwan will be joining us starting August 1st. Steve comes to us from the Seneca Waterways Council in Rochester. He has a B.A. in Youth Agency Administration and has been a professional Scouter for 31 years. Steve is pictured below with members of the RTC Selection Committee.

MARCH IN THE FOURTH OF JULY PARADE

Come have fun by being part of Utica's Fourth of July parade! If you're interested, call the Scout Service Center at 315-735-4437. 

SPORTING CLAYS TOURNAMENT

Join in the fun by either shooting or helping at the 11th Annual David M. Philipson's Sporting Clays Tournament on Saturday, July 19. 100 targets per person! Register online by July 1st and be entered to win a Remington 870 Shotgun. Odds are really good right now that you'll win the shotgun!

Prepare this summer at Boy Scout Resident Camp for the Mighty Run by participating at the Mighty Challenge! The Mighty Challenge will be at the Fall Camporee on September 12-14. Click here for more details. To sign up, email Bill at [email protected]. 

 

 

FREE SHOTGUN CLINIC

Calling all units! Come to the Clinton Fish & Game Club on Friday, 7/18 - Saturday, 7/19 for a Shotgun Shooting clinic, sleep overnight in tents on the grounds, and help with the 11th Annual David M. Philipson's Sporting Clays Tournament. This is a free event, but Scouts must help with shoot. Scouts must be over 13 years old. Units that are interested should sign up soon by emailing John Devlin. Deadline to sign up is July 1st. 

SCOUTS OF TROOP 18 RESTORE CABOOSE

The New Woodstock Regional Historical Society held a dedication ceremony on Sunday, June 21, to celebrate the restoration of its New York Central caboose. Three Scouts of BSA Troop 18, of Cazenovia completed their Eagle projects as parts of the restoration. Pictured below are Kathleen Weimar (president, Historical Society), Brian Hastings, Samuel Evans, Trent Robinson and George Schmit cutting the ribbon on the restored caboose.

SCOUTS AT THE OPERA

Experience the performing arts with other Scouts at Scout Day on Saturday, July 26th at 1:30pm during Glimmerglass' Festival 2014.  Scouts are $15, Adults are $45.  For info call 607.547.0700, ext. 241 or go to Glimmerglass.org. 

APPLY FOR 2014-2015 BSA/NRA YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

Any Boy Scout, Venturer, or Sea Scout who will be at least 16 and not older than 20 during 2015 can apply to represent the Boy Scouts as well as the NRA youth programs at various events and to undertake special projects during their year of service. More info and application are here.
