KINGSLEY CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND ESTABLISHED IN HONOR OF BOB BARNES

The Council lost a great Scouter two weeks ago when Bob Barnes, a long-time supporter of Cub Scouts and Camp Kingsley, passed away.  In his honor, his family has established the Bob Barnes Fund for Camp Kingsley Improvements. Donations in Bob's honor may be directed towards Camp Kingsley by contacting the Scout Service Center. Click here for the obituary. 

GEAR UP & GET READY FOR CAMP

Take advantage of the special pricing (30% off) extended to our Scouts at Herb Philipson's for 2013 Camp Essentials. Order by Wednesday, 5/15 and pick up your gear on Sunday, 6/16 (Father's Day) from 1PM-5PM at Herb Philipson's in New Hartford Shopping Center. Click Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts for more details.  

CAMP PAYMENT DEADLINES
  • Cub Scout Camp (resident and day) first payments were due 5/1.
  • The deadline for Operation Sunshine requests is Friday, 6/1.
  • Cub Scout final payments for day and/or resident camp are due 6/23.
  • For any Cub Scouts who were not registered before 5/1, there is a $10 increase in the camp cost.
CAMP CARD AVAILABLE THROUGH MID-MAY

 Units who have taken Camp Cards on consignment and have not reconciled with the Scout Store need to do this before Saturday, 6/15. If they are not turned in by then, a $3 charge per card will be billed to your unit. 

POPCORN CONFERENCES

Collect puzzle pieces by attending all 4 events leading up to the camp kick-off and be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a family camping packing (valued at $331). Events:

  1. ADK District Roundtable, Monday, 5/13
  2. June District Roundtables (Powderhorn or Adirondack Foothills)
  3. Kernel Training, Thursday, 6/13 at Scout Service Center
  4. Camp Kick-off, Thursday, 8/15
HCC PEER MENTORS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Six Boy Scouts will receive a scholarship from the Peer Mentors Club to attend Camp Russell this year. The selection process will be based on a 300-word essay on "Peer Mentoring and the Boy Scouts" and "Why Scouting has made me a Leader/Mentor to others" due to the Scout Service Center, Attention: Rolland Miner by Friday, 6/1.

TOUR DE CURE SERVICE OPPORTUNITY

 Boy Scout Troops are urged to consider helping out at this year's Tour de Cure to fight Diabetes.  Help is needed with parking cars, handing out information, crowd control, and more on Sunday, 6/ 9 from 6AM-3PM at Verona Beach State Park.  Leaders should contact Ryan VanWormer at 315-438-8687 or at rvanwormer@diabetes.org for more information.
