Analyze Technical and Tactical Performance Coach Course (Formerly Level 3)
Skate Canada has aligned the new NCCP National Coach program with LTAD core principles and philosophies at the high performance level. Coaches who are interested in furthering their NCCP status as a National Coach are being offered an opportunity to attend the sport-specific training of this new program. Here's an opportunity to begin your journey as a National Coach in preparation for the 2016-2017 registration year.
The learning activities in this training will allow coaches to:
- Analyze technical and tactical performance by observing and defining key factors that influence competitive performance
- Analyze technical and tactical performance by applying the principles of motion to detect and correct key performance factors
- Identify strategies to monitor and evaluate technical and tactical performance
- Implement and assess the effectiveness of correction

2016 Coaches and Officials Summit
Attended by approximately 50 coaches and 20 officials, this Summit, focusing on Program Components and Grades of Execution, was an amazing opportunity for our Coaches and Officials to come together in an atmosphere of free dialogue and education. Marco Buttarelli, ISU Judge and International Referee came all the way from Italy to share his knowledge of Program Components. Shae Zukiwsky, International Choreographer, Level 3 Coach, and ISU Dance Technical Specialist traveled from Toronto to be with us, and inspired everyone by making his presentations relevant on the ice.
Day one had the participants transitioning from classroom to rink, and the presenters wove together the material covering skating skills, performance, edge quality, transitions, choreography, and interpretation. Day two brought everyone back for an interesting and timely presentation by Dr. Amber Mosewich on the importance of mindfulness, and then continued with more from Marco and Shae. This was an action-packed weekend of learning and inspiration. Our presenters were excellent speakers, knowledgeable, and engaging. Marco and Shae, brought a sense of humor and a deep level of passion to the sessions, which was very much appreciated by the coaches and officials in the audience. Perspectives from both groups were well represented, and it was a wonderful opportunity for networking and mutual appreciation.
Feedback from the Summit has been nothing short of fantastic, and we all look forward to next time!
A big thank you to Jodi Abbott, Officials Coordinating Committee Chair for her work on bringing these amazing presenters to Alberta!

She encourages all skaters in the club to do their best and is always complimenting everyone around her. Working hard at her own skating, she also is a Program Assistant that her club is lucky to have. Brooklyn's passion for skating is evident to everyone who interacts with her.

Congratulations to the Male Skater of the Month, from the Tofield SC, Rosario Vinod. Rosario is new to skating this year. His family recently moved to Canada from India and he had never seen ice before joining CanSkate. In the beginning, he fell quite a bit but it did not take him long to catch on and become an excellent skater. He tries hard at every class and always has a smile on his face.
