Coach/Official Eligibility STAR 1 - 4 Statement
Individuals that have been a Primary STAR certified coach for two years and are interested in seeking initial appointment as a STAR 1-4 Official must apply, or communicate their intention to the Section Officials Committee. If a coach was previously a STAR 1-4 Official they do not have to wait the two years as a Primary STAR certified coach to sit on a panel.
Those coaches, after receiving the proper training and promotion, can be an official on a STAR panel.
The current restrictions that apply to coaches being officials on a panel will not apply. That is, a coach may sit on a panel with skaters from their home club and that they have or are currently coaching.

CanSkate Connection
Looking for new warm-up or group activity songs for your upcoming CanSkate season? Try these great selections! Freeze Dance by Dr. Cool and Pride - The Feeling Good Concert Following Directions with Exercise by Learning with Hip Hop Excellent CanSkate programs will ensure that either a coach or a PA is designated to lead the warm-up, which should be structured and choreographed to music. This is an integral part of the program from a fitness safety perspective for skaters to warm-up their muscles and joints to avoid injury. Also be aware of the movements used for warm-ups and cool-downs, use movements that are generic in nature. As CanSkate is a general learn-to-skate program, avoid arm and leg movements that are 'figure skating' oriented.
Thank you to Leeann Wilkin from the Sherwood Park Skating Club for sharing these song ideas. If you have awesome action songs you would like to share please let me know!
Happy Skating,
Tammy Greidanus
