32nd Annual Rose Bowl - January 9-10, 2016
Calgary Synchronized Skating Club is pleased to announce that it will once again host the Rose Bowl Synchronized Skating Competition on January 9 and 10, 2016. The annual Rose Bowl competition will be one of the premiere invitational competitions this season for synchronized skating teams across Western Canada. Since its inaugural event in 1983 the synchronized skating community looks forward to it year after year.

The event has grown steadily over the years, attracting an increasing number of participants.  In 1983, 10 teams with 180 skaters came to compete.  By its tenth year the competition welcomed 36 teams and 700 skaters.  The 2015 Rose Bowl, saw 30 teams with more than 450 talented athletes showcasing their level of commitment, teamwork and skill in the sport of synchronized skating.

Rose Bowl will host teams from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba which will feature the levels: Beginner I, Beginner II, Elementary, Juvenile, Pre-Novice, Novice, Intermediate, Open, Adult 1, Adult 2 and Adult 3.  The two day competition will commence with an opening ceremony at 6:00 pm on the Saturday and conclude with presentation of medals at 4:00 pm Sunday.
We hope to see you in January at the Max Bell Arena, but in the meantime, the Calgary Synchronized Skating Club would like to wish you all the very best for the Holiday Season!

Special Olympics Update

Skaters: Kennedy, JorDen, Kristina, Benjamin

Our Special Olympics Alberta Team attended their first competition of the season in Springbank the weekend of November 20-22, 2015. This competition was part of their Team Alberta training and had the skaters assessed using the STAR program and CPC points system for the first time. This will be the marking system that will be used at Nationals in March, so we were excited to try it out.

All of our skaters had good performances and were given "report cards" that they will use to continue their training and progress on the road to Nationals. Most of our athletes have had to change some of their elements to be the same as their STAR equivalent. This has proved to be a challenge, but also an adventure!

We now have less than 3 months until our National Games in Corner Brook, NFLD. Until then, we'll keep training and working towards our goals for the season!
