Officials are an integral part of our sport. Their dedication to the success of our athletes is evident through the countless hours they spend each year servicing our competitions and test days. Thank you to all of the officials in our Section that are dedicated to the clubs and skaters throughout the year. Take this opportunity to thank the officials in your club, or thank those officials who may help service your club. Stay tuned to the Skate Canada website for more information on the role officials play at Skate Canada, as well as highlighting officials' profiles from across the country. CanSkate Connection

In place of our regular CanSkate Connection article, we are pleased to feature the volunteer work of CanSkate Resource Team Member, Tammy Greidanus, with her family and community.

From Ice to Island - CanSkate Resource Team Member Tammy Greidanus had the opportunity to build a playground in Roatan, Honduras over spring break.  Her community in Sherwood Park, AB recently replaced their neighbourhood play equipment and decided to continue fundraising in order to take the previous equipment to a community in need.  In addition to installing a playground a team of volunteers provided humanitarian aid and medical assistance to the community in St. Helena, Roatan.  Tammy also shared ideas for developing physical literacy with the early learning teacher at the local school.  "Whether you are on the ice or on an island learning through play by 'Going on a Lion Hunt' or searching for treasure under pylons is a fun way to develop skills.  Play is a universal language and I feel fortunate to have had this amazing experience because every child has the right to learn and to play!"
