2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships
Congratulations Kaetlyn Osmond!Kaetlyn competed against the world's top skaters in London, Ontario from March 13 to March 17, 2013. Kaetlyn finished 8th with a score of 176.82.
Kaetlyn's placement earned Canada two quota positions in the Women's event at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
Next month, Kaetlyn will compete at the 2013 ISU World Team Trophy in Tokyo, Japan from April 11-14, 2013.

National Volunteer Week
Skate Canada: Alberta-NWT/Nunavut and Duso's are pleased to recognize volunteers during National Volunteer Week, April 21-27, 2013. Duso's will be presenting a gift to each award recipient. Recipients will also receive recognition on the Section website and in the Section newsletter during National Volunteer Week. 2013 Section Board of Directors
The following positions for election in 2013 to the Skate Canada: Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Board of Directors are: Chair, Vice Chair (odd year), Skating Programs Committee Chair and Events Committee Chair. These positions provide leadership and oversee committees throughout the Section. The election will take place on May 4, 2013 at the 2013 Section ACGM in Red Deer.

News and Views from Athlete Development
2013 Spring Development Camp 
The 2013 Spring Development Camp took place March 23-24 in Calgary, Alberta at the Ice Edge School. The camp hosted Frank Carroll, Marina Zoueva, and Cyndi Scott as facilitators. Over 45 athletes were invited to attend this prestigious camp that is dedicated to technical skill development in jumps, spins and edge quality as skaters plan for the year ahead. Skate Canada: Alberta-NWT/Nunavut thanks the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation for the Coach Visitation Grant that enabled skaters to learn from Frank Carroll.

Calgary Synchronized Skating Club Spring Skills Camp
May 25-26, 2013
Calgary, AB
CSSC is excited to announce we are hosting our first spring skills camp coached by Saara Pulkinnen! The 2-day camp will be held the weekend of May 25-26, open to skaters (minimum Junior Bronze skill level) and coaches and will be split into 3 skill groups, each with 2 hours on-ice plus one hour off-ice per day. The cost of the camp is $125. Be sure to sign up quickly, as there is limited space available in the camp.

Section Delegate and Proxy Forms
The Section ACGM is being held in Red Deer on May 4, 2013. We encourage each club to be represented at the Section AGM by completing a delegate and/or proxy form. For each club sending a delegate, please complete the delegate form. For each club that is not represented by a delegate attending the Section Annual General Meeting, the club may be represented by giving their proxy to a delegate, an individual member, to vote in their place by completing the proxy form. Please submit these forms to the Section office or to your Region Representative by April 30, 2013. Throughout March and April, all Regions will be holding their annual Region AGM meetings where members of the region gather to review the skating season, share success stories, announce the achievement award recipients for the region and Skate Canada updates are provided. Elections for each Region Committee also occur at these meetings and nominations are taken from the floor. Please review the Region Nomination Package for information.
Most of the Region AGM meetings are held face-to-face, however some meetings are held via conference call. The Region AGM meeting dates are:
April 3 - Calgary Region

Duso's presented two Section Showcases in 2013, one in Edson and one in Claresholm. The showcases welcomed such athletes as Keelee Gingrich and Davin Portz (2013 Skate Canada Challenge Gold medalists, Pre-Novice Pairs), Kendra Digness & Eric Thiessen (2013 Canadian Tire National Figure Skating Championships, Novice Pair), Jessica-Lee Behiel & Jackson Behiel (2013 Sectionals Gold medalists, Juvenile Dance), Amanda Kimoto (2013 Sectionals Gold Medalist, Juvenile Women U14), Emma Bulwaka (2013 Sectionals Gold medalist, Juvenile Women U11), Jase Ritter (2013 Sectionals Silver medalist, Juvenile Men U14), Tobiah Wong (2013 Sectionals Silver medalist, Pre-Juvenile Men U11), and Jordyn LePage & Nathan Chung (Pre-Juvenile Dance).
