EDMONTON - Ice skating doesn't exist in Celia Contreras' home of Tamaulipas, Mexico. But on Saturday, the seven-year-old glided across the Glengarry Arena with ease. Arms stuck straight out to the side, eyes transfixed, Celia wiggled her legs and dug her blades into the cold white surface. Stop. Steady. Swish, swish, swish and she was off. Duso's Skater of the Month
Congratulation Paitan Molde of the Bonnyville Skating Club, Duso's December Skater of the Month!
Paitan skates in the STARSKate program at the Bonnyville SC. She volunteers her time to help with the CanSkate program as a Program Assistant. Skaters are always eager to be in her group. She makes everyone feel welcome at the club and helps to ease other skaters nerves at club events. She is supportive and always has a smile on her face.
Paitan is a strong role model for the Bonnyville SC, as she works hard and has a positive attitude at all times. She shows the spirit of skating each and every day, and seeing the younger skaters in her club rush to give her a hug when she walks into the dressing room shows that she is a positive influence for them. Paitan has worked hard to accomplish what she has in skating, which has never been an obstacle. She loves the sport and is determined to do her best while encouraging others to do their best. She always has a smile on her face and her caring nature does not go unnoticed.
