During this Holy Week, we all have our eyes set on the great mystery of Easter.
It's the final week of Lent where we have had our chance to make positive changes in ourselves and for others. We are in a season of transformation and a time of dramatic changes in appearances, especially the transfiguration of Jesus.
"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." - John 11:25
A few weeks back our pastor's sermon was about Luke 9, where Jesus predicts his death. He spoke of "The Transfiguration" as a pivotal moment, with the setting on the mountain as the point where human nature meets God, with Jesus himself as the connecting point acting as the bridge between heaven and earth. Our pastor used this reading to talk about our desire to seek the Lord and own changes as we draw closer in our relationship with Jesus. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence." - Jeremiah 17:7 The Power of Prayer gets us through in the toughest of times, and especially when we are facing hardship for ourselves and when we are in need of support for others. This is a week we spend a great amount of time in prayer. Praying and romancing the Word is a beautiful way to abide with the Lord, to draw nearer. Scripture is filled with prayers as a way for us to connect with Jesus. When we join in prayer with others we connect deeply.
"They all joined together constantly in prayer." - Acts 1:14 The paschal mystery is one of the dying and rising of Jesus Christ, and we live our lives in very much a similar way - in between dying and rising each moment of every day as we cry out to Jesus - to know Him! Then in that space of prayer and meditation, there is that feeling of connection as if we know we have felt touched, the palm of Jesus' hand in mine, His garment on my fingertips. There is that Divine feeling of insight, understanding and a quick flash of knowledge that fills me up like nothing else that relieves all panic, apprehension, and defeat. I feel as if I can go out and do everything and handle any situation - stronger, more confident, blessed, and I feel so completely grateful in a new way that is almost unexplainable. You sought Jesus and you found Him. Praise God!
Whether you really have experienced this, or not, prayer can open you up to this experience. The most important part of prayer is having an open communication with Jesus.
Chapter 6 is all about how to 'Take Him as Your Best Friend' and talks about how to walk with Him every day and every night. Dr. Peale shares how to keep company with Him and visualize being with Jesus. I found this to be an extraordinary little booklet to carry around during challenging times, or when I need a little direction on how to seek Jesus out when I am feeling distracted. It has been a great source of comfort and gives me direction when I need it, and I thought you may like it as well. To order this booklet CLICK HERE. "Taking Jesus as your best friend means putting your trust in Him and His teachings. If you follow what He says, you will experience right results. "Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near. - Isaiah 55:6
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms." - James 5:13"
A Time to Think
Prayer is a choice. For us to pray to give thanks, or to
voice our questions and doubts shows that we are choosing to leave an opening in our spirits. Without this opening, there is no vessel,
no place into which God can breathe. - Joanna Laufer, author

Answered Prayers
Prayer is the foundation of which we build our lives. Take time to pray for your own needs and the needs of others. Spend time with God and feel the embrace of his loving care for you. God is peace, and through prayer He listens.
"Prayer can freshen you up every evening and send you out renewed each morning." - Norman Vincent Peale
I asked for prayers at the beginning of 2014 as I began once again to battle my addictions. God has again done for me what I have never been able to do for myself and I have been narcotic free this year. Well, I could have been narcotic free, the physical need is gone, I am still battling the psychological draw. But the physical addiction was removed and your continued prayers for my psychological recovery are powerful. Thank you.

"Your first flake reminds me of my conversations with God as I shovel at night. Today I shovel with more diligence and I go out to shovel in small increments of time. I love it in the evening when there is very little people traffic. This is when I feel as one with the Lord and at peace as the flakes kiss my cheeks."

"It's not what you gather, it's what you scatter that people will know how you lived your life!"

"Continuing a Lenten series on prayer: Prayer is co-operation with God. It is the purest exercise of the faculties God has given us - an exercise that links these faculties with the Maker to work out the intentions He had in mind in their creation."
E. Stanley Jones

"Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;" - John 11:25
Easter is Jesus' great example of life-giving power, usually associated with eternity. But eternal life isn't only off in the future; it is now. You can be resurrected now. You don't have to wait until you die. You can be resurrected from other forms of death; indeed many of us are dead while we are alive.
- Norman Vincent Peale
