We made history and we invite you to help us celebrate!
You're invited to be my guest...

Next Wednesday marks the official beginning of an exciting venture in orthopedics in Southwest Florida as we celebrate the Grand Opening of Seaside Surgery Center with a VIP reception and a public Open House.

I am the CEO and Medical Director of this brand new facility, having partnered with Naples' best and brightest in the world of orthopedics, sports medicine and podiatry to bring outpatient total joint replacement to our area.

You should have received an electronic invitation to the reception, I consider you to be VIPs! If it slipped by you, please refer to the image below. You may RSVP for the VIP reception by email or by calling 239-297-3638. I hope to see you there!

Best regards,
Robert J. Zehr, M.D.
Managing your pain after knee surgery

A team-based care approach (consisting of the patient, family members, the orthopaedic surgeon and other medical practitioners) on total knee replacement (TKR) procedures, in conjunction with newer pain management strategies, is key to maximizing patient outcomes, according to an article recently published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS).

The article goes on to say that managing post-surgical pain is key to promoting early postoperative mobility, reducing medication side effects, and increasing patient satisfaction in these procedures.

Newer pain-control strategies, referred to as multi-modal protocols, more effectively manage pain and limit side effects.
There are even measures that patients can take themselves to manage their post-operative pain:
  • patients should avoid long-term chronic narcotic use for knee arthritis pain control prior to surgery
  • patients should not abruptly stop oral medications as there is a risk of rebound pain and the development of chronic pain

We employ these newer multi-modal protocols at the Zehr Center, and encourage our patients to take charge of their recovery from total knee replacement

Realtor sold on total hip replacement

"I had experimental hip surgery when I was 26 for avascular necrosis. At that time is was uncertain how long this would last.

When the pain started in my hip again, I asked my surgeon in Michigan for advice on who to see here in Naples. He told me that if it was his hip, he would have Dr. Zehr fix it since he was one of the best surgeons he knew.

This gave me tremendous relief and after I met with Dr. Zehr, I was very confident with him. He spent time with me and explained everything that was going to happen. It went just like he said.

Since my hip surgery, my life has changed so much. I have changed careers and am now a Realtor. I have confidence in going up and down stairs when I show houses and am not in pain with clients.

But the greatest thing is that I can now walk on the beach. This is a dream for me as before I couldn't do it with the pain in my hip. I just wish I had done the surgery 10 years ago!"
