First Outpatient Hip Replacement Surgery Complete

Don Uhlenkott gives us a thumbs up as he leaves the Seaside Surgery Center, just four hours after receiving a new hip in Southwest Florida's first outpatient hip replacement surgery. We published a few photos of this historic surgery on our Facebook page. We'll check in with Don for our next newsletter to see how he's doing.

"I have my life back thanks to Dr. Zehr, and his wonderful staff. After a lot of doctors, and research of different techniques of surgery, I knew this was the kind of surgery I wanted to do.

"The anterior approach and Dr. Zehr was the only doctor for me, and Physicians Regional Medical Center with the "Hana table" was where I wanted to have my surgery. It's like going to a 5 star resort of Medical Centers (if that exists )!

"Within 30 days of my surgery, I went dancing with my wonderful husband of 41 years, we are so happy we made this decision. We can resume the life we had before, now that my hip pain is gone.

The long-awaited day has arrived! Seaside Surgery Center opened its doors on Veterans' Day, November 11. I performed my first outpatient total hip replacement there this week and we look forward to introducing you to that patient. I am very excited to be part of this unique surgery center - the only one in Southwest Florida to offer total knee and total hip replacements. You go home the same day that your joint surgery is performed. No hospital stay!

The New Year is fast approaching and with it, ZCO will have a new website! We will still provide the same thorough patient education and convenient online services. The website will be easy to read and easy to navigate.

We will also have a new look for this newsletter. Statistics show that 57% of you now read this newsletter on a mobile device. That number has been climbing steadily, so we will look at a using a mobile responsive template for sharing the same helpful information and great testimonies.

Meet the Seaside Surgical Team

Why are these medical professionals smiling? Because they are making history - as the surgical team for Southwest Florida's first outpatient surgical center whose services include total hip and total knee replacements. Seaside Surgery Center opened for business on Veterans' Day, November 11. Seaside is located at 1879 Veterans Park Dr., in Naples. Are you a candidate for same day joint replacement surgery? How far would you travel to be pain free?

Cliff Silverstein recently traveled 1,189 miles (as the crow flies) to have a total hip replacement. It was his second hip replacement, as we had replaced one for him five years ago. as Cliff says: "I came from my home in Panama to be treated by Dr. Zehr and his wonderful staff. He replaced my left hip this time, again with minimal pain and fast recovery. His successful replacement of my right hip 5 years ago proved to me he knew his stuff."

Seminars Resume

Live seminars return to Physicians Regional Medical Seminar beginning in January. The hour-long informative sessions begin at 6pm in the hospital lobby.
