null Enter the Camp Promotion Video Contest and Win an iPad Mini!

Calling all aspiring movie directors! Create a short marketing video to promote one or more of our three council camps by sharing the fun activities, opportunities, and excitement of Camp Oljato, Cutter Scout Reservation, and Boulder Creek Scout Reservation, and you may win an iPad mini or one of several runner up prizes! The deadline is August 31, 2014, so grab your camera and head out to camp and capture some awesome footage for your video. Sailing, shotgun, COPE, mountain boarding, rock climbing, ATV's. A Cub Scout favorite year after year -- your whole family is invited to cruise the Bay with the Sea Scouts of the Pacific Skyline Council! There are three cruise times to choose from: 8am, 11am, and 2pm; each cruise lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Click here for more info. 

 

Cub logo 32 px Webelos Resident Camp - July 17-19

Webelos get a "sneak peek" into the wonderful world of Boy Scout Camp and a parent gets to enjoy a unique camping experience with their Scout. Webelos can earn advancement in several activity badges and belt loops. Webelos can also participate in aquatics activities including rowing and canoeing and learn hands-on "Trail to First Class" skills including fire-building and cooking their own meal. Cub-ON is a great introduction to Cub Scouting and the natural beauty of our coastal area. Cutter Scout Reservation is located near the base of the Santa Cruz mountains in a lush redwood forest. All meals are provided in our dining hall with trained staff in charge of all of our activity areas. Hiking - Fishing - Archery - BB Guns - Crafts - if you can think it, Cub ON has it! Join us! Fleur de lis 32 px 1-Day Aviation or Weather Merit Badge Programs at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos - various dates thru Oct  
Boy Scouts can complete their requirements for the Aviation or Weather Merit Badge through special 1-day programs at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos. This is not a council event, it is run by the Hiller Museum. Click here for more info. 
Training 
 

Fleur de lis 32 px NRA Shotgun Instructor Course - Aug 15-17

This course gives the students the skills, knowledge and attitude to become shot gun instructor who can teach the basic shotgun shooting program. Skills learned are how to teach, shooting positions, body positions, shot mechanics, sight picture, parts of a shotgun, ammunition types and uses, Winchester marksmanship program, shooting activities, practical exercises, safe gun handling, cleaning and care of a shotgun, and shooting skills development. Passing this course qualifies you to become a shot gun shooting merit badge counselor upon NRA Certification. Click here for more info.  

 

null NRA Range Safety Officer Class - Sep 6

This course is designed to give the students the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to run a range safely. Skills learned include RSO roles and responsibility. Range standard operating procedures (SOP), range inspection, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, range briefings which include emergency procedures. It does not cover shooting instruction. Details to come. 

 

null Wood Badge - Starts Sep 19 

Wood Badge is the culmination of basic leader training for all adult leaders in Scouting - from Cub Scouting and Boy Scouts, to Varsity and Venturing. The course emphasizes development of personal leadership, team-building, and management skills. Click here for more info.  

 

  null Philmont Training Center - Cimarron, NM 

The Philmont Training Center (PTC) is the only national volunteer training center for the Boy Scouts of America. Since 1950, PTC has provided a unique environment for training volunteer and professional leaders, and a fun family program for every member of the family. Each year, more than 6,000 Scouters and family members attend PTC. Each conference features the latest tools and techniques, audiovisuals, discussions, idea sharing, and activities led by a faculty of experienced Scouters. All registered Scouters are invited to attend training center courses; council approval is no longer required. Click here for more info.
