null Best Wishes to Retiring Jill Schwab! - May 30 

Our Jill Schwab is retiring after 22 years of service here at the Pacific Skyline Council. Friday, May 30 is her last day. Through the years, she has worked diligently as our registrar, Learning For Life District Executive, Development Director, and Executive Assistant. She is a Silver Beaver award recipient and spent many years helping with Wood Badge. Jill is a very organized, fun and giving person who looks out for others. Did you see her in the news a few months ago? We're not sure if we'll survive without her. Best wishes to you, Jill. Have fun with the grandchildren!

Congratulations to Don Wilson for receiving the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award! Don is an Eagle Scout, former Scout Executive, Philmont Director, and the father of Brad Wilson, Redwood District Troop 28 Committee chair. The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award is a national honor to acknowledge Eagle Scouts who have received extraordinary national-level recognition, fame, or eminence within their field, and have a strong record of voluntary service to their community.

Webelos get a "sneak peek" into the wonderful world of Boy Scout Camp and a parent gets to enjoy a unique camping experience with their Scout. Webelos can earn advancement in several activity badges and belt loops. Webelos can also participate in aquatics activities including rowing and canoeing and learn hands-on "Trail to First Class" skills including fire-building and cooking their own meal. Boy Scouts can complete their requirements for the Aviation or Weather Merit Badge through special 1-day programs at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos. This is not a council event, it is run by the Hiller Museum. Click here for more info.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) - June 14-20 

Registration now open. An exciting, action-packed program provides youth with leadership skills and experience they can use in their units and in other situations. Key concepts focus on what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and what he must DO, and are taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership. Click here for more info.

This course gives the students the skills, knowledge and attitude to become shot gun instructor who can teach the basic shotgun shooting program. Skills learned are how to teach, shooting positions, body positions, shot mechanics, sight picture, parts of a shotgun, ammunition types and uses, Winchester marksmanship program, shooting activities, practical exercises, safe gun handling, cleaning and care of a shotgun, and shooting skills development. Passing this course qualifies you to become a shot gun shooting merit badge counselor upon NRA Certification. Click here for more info.

Wood Badge is the culmination of basic leader training for all adult leaders in Scouting - from Cub Scouting and Boy Scouts, to Varsity and Venturing. The course emphasizes development of personal leadership, team-building, and management skills. Click here for more info.  

 

  null Philmont Training Center - Cimarron, NM 

The Philmont Training Center (PTC) is the only national volunteer training center for the Boy Scouts of America. Since 1950, PTC has provided a unique environment for training volunteer and professional leaders, and a fun family program for every member of the family. Each year, more than 6,000 Scouters and family members attend PTC. Each conference features the latest tools and techniques, audiovisuals, discussions, idea sharing, and activities led by a faculty of experienced Scouters.
