Shark Assemblies are coming ... Schools take ACTION
This week David McGuire, Shark Conservationist and Chris Pincetich,
Marine Biologist will be talking with over 5,000 students about sharks.

Perhaps 5,000 students will be talking about sharks with their moms and dads!

Teachers engage students with Earth Day and Shark lessons! Last year was all about the Turtle, 2011 was about the Whales!

Dear Earth Hero

Earth Day is here! Well almost. I've already received reports of people picking up their streets, gardening and others scoping out their April 20th projects. The Earth Day Festival is ready with bands, activities for the whole family, booths and more. What are you doing for Earth Day?
Cabrillo Kicks Off Earth Day!
Happy (B)Earth Day, Wonderful World!

Cabrillo School students gathered to sing and sign to Louis Armstrong's rendition of "What A Wonderful World." They formed a beautiful rainbow.

We asked for Earth Day help, you delivered... See you April 20th
Thirteen Cubs, Boys, Daisy and Girl Scout troops have signed up to adopt projects. Many are working together to tackle big jobs. Some are recruiting friends and family to bolster their fun team!

To date: 120 church groups, alumni teams, community groups, service organizations, friends, schools, neighbors and business teams have signed on to "Take a Bite Out of Litter, Garden and Restore Habitat!"

A BIG THANK YOU to our Earth Day Sponsors!!!
The Pacifica Beach Coalition could not do this event without the support of our generous sponsors! Thank you for Shark assemblies, Earth Hero buttons, bookmarks, supplies, educational giveaways, posters, bands, entertainment and Earth Day Festival!

A big shout out to City of Pacifica, County of San Mateo, Pedro Point Surf Club, Pacifica's Environmental Family, North Coast County Water District, Recology of the Coast, Pacific Manor Hardware and Mazzetti's Bakery!  Please take time to thank them and support them when you can.

Earth Day Finds its Stride in Pacifica...
In terms of the 4.54 billion years our own dear Earth has been around, the 43 years since the Earth Day movement was first launched in 1970 are barely a moment in time, but what a moment it's been!

In terms of local commitment, consider the level of participation provided by the Pacifica community in last year's Earth Day event. Over 20% of our 40,000 population turned out to help in some way last year: 8,100 people came together to preserve our beaches and wildlife by picking up 8 tons of trash including green waste. On this upcoming Earth Day 2013, consider how on this one day, what may seem like a small individual contribution on your part, becomes part of a global show of force in the face of ongoing environmental concerns.

This year, be part of the Earth Day movement. To help where there is greatest need, please contact the Pacifica Beach Coalition
(www.pacificabeachcoalition.org) and Pick It Up Pacifica!
