Scholarship/Financial Aid

Parents, an important word about scholarships for Breakaway..... "We are in need of scholarship funds, as this year they have all been depleted to zero. If you would like to help a young person go to Breakaway, please pray and talk as a family about helping to pay for another young person to go. I am sensitive to this issue, because when I was a teenager, I received a scholarship for the first youth trip I ever went on. I'm not sure I would be  a youth pastor if a man in the church in 1970 had not paid my way as a fifteen year old. Thanks! We are so looking forward to these Breakaway Weekends!"-Jim Byrne

Crossroads Grate Patrol

Want to help serve the homeless breakfast in DC?  Our next twp Grate Patrol opportunities are Saturday morning, December 1st and January 26th.  Please email Eric Garner to participate.  Drop off is at 4:50 am in the back parking lot of the 150 S. Washington Street, Falls Church, 22046. Pick up at 10am.

Dear Cornerstone, Crossroads, and Parents!

After observing Jesus each morning pulling off alone for his quiet time with his Father, the disciples asked Jesus, "Teach us to pray." Our Lord then taught them the simple, yet compelling Lord's Prayer.

Short and personal, this prayer re-focuses us to our Father in heaven who cares for all our needs.

As your youth pastor, I am concerned with the culture of DC (the distraction, the busyness, the hurry, and stress) that our young people in Northern Virginia are immersed in. They seem to have no time to stop and get a focus on their loving Creator. This inability to stop and be with God puts them in an environment of stress and worry, rather than trust and peace.  It's my hope that our young people of Crossroads and Cornerstone will daily rest in God's hands by investing in prayer and scripture for a short meaningful experience each day.

This winter and spring we are going to be looking at The Lord's Prayer. We'll look at each line of this amazing expression to our God!

Here's a preview:

  1. Relate: Our Father- we do not live under the authority of an impersonal deity, but under the grace and love of our Father God, who cares for us deeply!
  2. Rejoice: Hallowed be thy name- When we worship a big God our problems become smaller. When we ignore or diminish God, our problems become bigger. Small God, big problems, Big God small problems!
  3. Reflect: Thy Kingdom Come- what does God have for us in His Kingdom? Young people need purpose, and the Kingdom of God has a place for them!
  4. Request: Give us- God desires us to ask for our needs! He desires to bless us with His gifts!
  5. Repent: We must agree with God that we are sinners that need Him for life and salvation!

I strongly encourage your families to make Sunday night a priority. Get the homework done and come on over! You are missed by your small group!

Where else do you get spiritual support? You are needed and you need it!

I want to update you on some events in the future:
