Doris Griffin Senior Center Grand Opening
On January 21, 2015, more than 600 dignitaries, seniors and caregivers joined with the WellMed Charitable Foundation and the City of San Antonio (TX) to celebrate the Grand Opening of this new facility at 6157 NW Loop 410, Ste. 120. in San Antonio, honoring long-time senior advocate Doris Griffin. Grand Re-Opening and Open House
Newly refurbished with upgraded technology, but the same warm, friendly environment, the Caregiver SOS at Northern Hills Grand Re-Opening on Jan. 28, 2015 was attended by more than 50 caregivers, care recipients, friends and local community partners. The Northern Hills Resource Center, part of the WellMed Charitable Foundation's signature caregiver programs, had been closed through most of December 2014 for renovation, including new floors, fresh paint, an expanded meeting room, installation of a new projector, and furniture with attractive decor. WCF Executive Director Carol Zernial and Program Manager Joye McQueen welcomed community members and WellMed staff from the adjacent Northern Hills clinic during a morning ceremony. More photos. |

GRANDPARENTS
- Are you raising your grandchild or a great grandchild?
- Is it important for the child's upbringing that you have legal custody in order to manage their medical care and enroll them in school?
- Would you like to permanently adopt your grandchild because their parents are deceased or not present in the child's life?
If you are a grandparent or Kinship caregiver with limited resources, live in Bexar County, over the age of 55 and interested in obtaining custody, guardianship or adopting a grandchild, we may be able to assist.
The Bexar Area Agency on Aging - Grandparents Program with the assistance of the San Antonio Bar Association may be able to provide grandparents/kinship caregivers with Legal assistance in order to obtain NON CONTESTEDcustody, guardianship or adopt your grandchild.
Participating Attorneys would provide this service to qualifying grandparents at no charge through our agency.
NOTE: we only provide assistance to NON Contested cases

Volunteers are needed to assist a homebound senior in your neighborhood. Volunteers must be age 55yrs or older. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, that does not affect current benefits you may be receiving, and transportation reimbursement or a monthly bus pass.
