Lyda C. Arévalo-Flechas, PhD, MSN, RN has earned a reputation for cutting edge research on the factors influencing Latino/ Hispanic caregivers' perception of the experience of caring for a relative with Alzheimer's disease nationally and internationally.  

 

Her nursing career spans more than 25 years, including working as an operating room nurse, teaching university students and becoming a researcher. Her passion for research was triggered when she started working with Hispanic/Latino caregivers and realized the gap in cultural and linguistic needs required to address this growing population. Caregiver Summit Features the Latest Information on Alzheimer's Testing 

Family Caregivers and professionals working in the field of aging are invited to the Nov. 7 Caregiver Summit, featuring award-winning Alzheimer's Researcher Sid O'Bryant, Ph.D. Dr. O'Bryant, the Keynote Speaker, Is among a handful of scientists nationwide examining the impact of Brain Disease on Latinos.

"An Update on Alzheimer's Disease Emerging Science: 
A Hope for the Future"
Dr. O'Bryant, who has been working on a test for Alzheimer's disease that may soon be used by primary care physicians, will cover this work as part of his presentation. The 2014 Caregiver Summit is sponsored by the Caregiver SOS program of the WellMed Charitable Foundation.

Set for Friday, Nov. 7, the Summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Whitley Theological Center at the Oblate School of Theology, 285 Oblate, San Antonio, TX.
