APS Surprise Visit

The Cross Roads Senior Center by WellMed was visited by Kez Wold, Adult Protective Service Director of Field; Ann Cortez, Director of APS Region 11, and Gustavo Salinas, APS Community Initiatives Specialist, Region 11. The visit resulted from many years of collaboration between Cross Roads Senior Center's, operations manager Letty Q. Sanchez and Adult Protective Service Administration and staff. It was an opportunity to share possible delivery of services and educational programs to clients served by APS in this region.

These special guests had an opportunity to tour the Cross Roads Senior Center by WellMed and see the action which included Zumba Gold and Laughter Yoga. Cortez addressed members of the senior center complimenting their energy and determination to stay active, healthy, and socially connected.  Wold, in an email after the visit, stated  "we tend to see people in dire straits at APS, it is great to see older people laughing, exercising, and enjoying life".   Some members  eagerly shared the positive changes in their lives after becoming members of the center.

This visit and meeting reaffirms the commitment to educate the community about elder abuse; find different avenues to prevent it; and enhance the life of the most vulnerable in the community, our aging population.
