Several S.A. Area Stress-Busting Programs Scheduled
|
 The Stress-Busting Program is designed to improve the quality of life for family caregivers who provide care for persons with Alzheimer's disease or other related dementias by helping them manage their stress and cope better with their lives. The ProgramThe program consists of 90-minute sessions that occur once per week for 9 weeks and is conducted in a small group setting with two trained group facilitators. Participants are provided with many resources, including: a handbook covering class material, a meditation CD, a relaxation strategies DVD. OASIS Awarded National Honor
| OASIS is the winner of the 2013 Gloria Cavanaugh Award for Excellence in Training and Education, in recognition of its significant, long-term and innovative contributions to education for older adults. The Gloria Cavanaugh Award is presented to an individual or organization demonstrating continued excellence in training/education related to aging.
OASIS has pioneered a three-fold approach to successful aging through lifelong learning, healthy lifestyles and social engagement. Providing programs through hundr eds of community partners, OASIS creates opportunities for adults age 50+ to pursue vibrant, healthy, productive and meaningful lives. Programs range from the arts, humanities and technology to wellness and volunteer opportunities. Executive Director of OASIS San Antonio is Brenda Schmachtenberger, who has led the organization for more than 20 years. She has worked to add classes for family caregivers, including an evening series for those who also work outside the home.
