Arthritis is a condition that impacts many older adults. Listen to Dr. Huete discuss the causes and treatments of arthritis, and how exercising can be beneficial in dealing with the condition. Other Stress-Busting Programs
| Community partners will be presenting two additional Stress-Busting programs in the San Antonio area. The first, to be held at Autumn Grove Cottages, has a March 7th goal date to begin. The other, to be located at Primrose Lane Adult Day Care, will be scheduled when enough participant have registered.
Some Background on the Stress-Busting Program
The Stress-Busting Program provides caregivers information about stress (particularly stress associated with caregiving), how to deal with stress through relaxation and problem solving, and how to care for themselves while caring for a loved one with dementia. In addition, there also is information related to caring for a person with dementia.
The program consists of 90-minute sessions that occur once per week for 9 weeks. The program is conducted in a small group setting with two group facilitators. Participants will be provided many resources including a handbook covering class material, a meditation CD, and a relaxation strategies DVD. Back to Caregiver SOS section. Caregivers Research Project

Caregivers Sought for Thesis Research Project
Talitha Lewis, a graduate student at Texas State University is working on her thesis research project on non-paid caregivers for African Americans who are age 55 and older.

The caregivers do not have to be African- American, but the people receiving the care should be. If you would like to participate or know of someone who cares for an elderly person, please contact her at (512) 237-0042 or tl1222@txstate.edu.
Caregivers will participate in a face-to-face interview with Talitha about an hour in length. Questions will be related to your experiences as a caregiver, including those pertaining to stress and workload. The interview will be audio-recorded for transcription and inclusion in her thesis. Interviews are confidential and no identifying names will be used. She would appreciate your participation..

Respite Care of San Antonio (RCSA), which cares for children with special needs, will be hosting an Open House at their Mother's Day Out location (1303 Tampico St) on Wednesday February 27 from 9:30-11:30am.
RCSA serves children with developmental disabilities and their siblings. Parents, family members, and professionals that work with families are invited to join their to see their site, meet their team, and enjoy FREE breakfast and coffee.
