WINTER PLUMBING TIPS
With freezing temperatures, you want to get extra heat to prevent pipes from freezing. Open the cabinet doors (especially at night) on kitchen sink and vanities. The extra heat from your home might help prevent freezing.
If your pipes are frozen, try using a hair dryer to thaw out the pipes. If you do this, you must open up the faucet on the lines you are attempting to thaw out. If the lines start to thaw, they need the outlets open in order to prevent the pipes from bursting. If the faucet is closed, you will probably have a burst.
*CAUTION*
1) Never use an open flame to try thawing out a frozen pipe
2) Electrical tape is not recommended, overlapping the lines may cause an electrical short or fire |
