What is a Journeyman Plumber and what are the requirements to become one?
Requirements to become a Journeyman Plumber are a five year apprenticeship program, with each year consisting of up to 2,000 hours of on-the-job training. A minimum of 216 hours of classroom training, and an approved OSHA ten hour construction training card.
After these requirements are met and verified, the apprentice takes an examination by the Board of Plumbing Examiners. A score of 75 or better is required for securing a license.
A Journeyman license must be renewed every three years with a minimum of 12 PEU (Professional Education Units) required for renewal. |
Survey Says: Homeowner's Ready to Invest
in Remodeling
 Many homeowners who put off remodeling and repairs last year due to the economy are now ready to make the investment, a new survey reported.
The survey, administered in January by Angie's List ( www.angieslist.com), the consumer review website, found that ninety percent of respondents said they plan to spend this year on home improvements and repairs.
Fifty-nine percent of the survey participants said they want to remodel because they want to update or improve their homes, and twenty-two percent are planning repairs. Nine percent said they want to increase their homes' resale value.
Respondents said the would likely spend an average of five percent in their homes' values on remodeling or repairs. |
