Dear Friends, I want to begin by thanking all of you who have made a financial pledge for 2013. Pledging is an act of faith, and the prayerful consideration of it is also an act of faith. So, thank you, not only to those who brought pledge cards to church on Sunday, but to those who decided to take them home and prayerfully revisit their pledge. I am grateful for the spirit of faith and discernment that is growing among us as we look ahead to what God will be doing in our midst in the coming days, months and years. One of the joys of life is the sense of anticipation. We exercise this, for example, when the children are discovering something new, when the strawberries are almost ripe, when we know we have done something well or when we sense that God is working in our lives. In all these cases, we experience not only the joy of the moment, but the joy of the future which is anticipation. This past week I had the pleasure of having dinner with one of our church families. It was a joy to be in their home and to receive their wonderful meal and hospitality. At a deeper level, it was an even greater joy to talk to one another about the work God has done in our lives, and how we see God continuing to work in our marriages, children, professions, friendships and here in our church. We prayed about the work God will continue to do. Every time we gather in fellowship with one another, and share these "God sightings," we are building one another up. This is one of the greatest gifts we can give one another. Not only does it point to God's work here and now, it also keeps alive a sense of anticipation about what God will do. The Message translation of Proverbs 29:18 says: If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed. As we help one another see what God is doing, it blesses us all! Alleluia!Dave Bianchin
