Dear 2PC family,

This past Tuesday, Rev. Dave Bianchin, Rev. Dean Kladder,
Rev. Andrea Haughton Kladder, Rev. Mike McGaughan, Ruth Chinn, Ruth Gabor and myself all attended our standing Presbytery of Great Rivers (PGR) Assembly meeting. You can visit the presbytery website here. This site includes helpful and interesting information about our local mission partners.

Our presbytery covers a large geographical region. The "great rivers" referenced in the presbytery name are the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Our presbytery stretches from LeRoy in the east, to the Quad Cities in the north and Quincy in the south. You can find a map of the presbytery area on the presbytery website.

Two things strike me as being important about being a member
of the PGR. The first is the connections we share with other
Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations and the second is the inspiration I get from my colleagues across the presbytery. The
connections we share are both relational and mission-focused. It
is a great gift to know the other pastors and elders in the local area. Getting to know our ministry partners at St. Luke's Union of
Bloomington, and First Presbyterian Church of Normal, has been a gift. We actually travel and attend our youth winter retreats with the youth of St. Luke's. I am inspired by the ministry at the other churches in our presbytery and also by the quality of the people that are serving in this geographic area.

The churches in our presbytery range in size from under 50 members to 2PC at 1,700 members. But when I am at our presbytery meetings I think of the passage from 1 Corinthians 12 (The Message), "I want you to think about how all this makes you more significant, not
less. A body isn't just a single part blown up into something huge. It's all the different-but-similar parts arranged and functioning
together." We all need one another and I am grateful to have
partners in ministry of all different shapes, sizes, color and so
much more!

Want to know more about our presbytery experience? Ask any of us who attended the Tuesday meeting. There is great ministry in the PGR!

In Christ,

Josh
